WTH is wrong with SL lately?

Ever since i downloaded the latest viewer, a little over a week ago, i have had noting but problems; heavy lag, crashes, sim resets everywhere, extremely low kbps and extremely high packet loss.
What is the issue, when will it be fixed or how can i fix the problem? I am going insane.

I may nee to be agree with you. Since this new client, I'm having heavy lag, tons of crashes (and with vidcard drivers updated), and today I have the basic appereance of avies, and my appearence command does not work and I can not load anything on me (shape, skin, attachments, anything).

SL had been many problems during these days (closing the service for moments) I just hope LL can find the problem and fix it as soon as possible.

It's okay Pound - I also open a thread on same issue. I agree - the idea of tropical breezes, sunsets and winds (?) is just a little too much - I wish they would just get sl balanced and running normally - but I fear we are in the hands of corporations who are willing to expriment when we are paying tiers and fees to subsidize them

It has been cack for days but I'm not sure it's SL itself that's the issue. The forums have been ropey and so has the main page and my account page, which points to a connectivity issue which might explain why I get disconnected so often when I TP.

Lag has been horrendous too at times.

Ditto to all of the above.... I never usually crash, or indeed suffer from much lag despite having older hardware (I would tell you the specs but I don't want people to point and laugh ) but SL has been performing really really badly for me since I updated.

The other night I had 8, yes 8 crashes in an hour....textures all greyed out..attachments taking ages to rez, or not rezzing at all..a chronic case of the Ruths assailing me at each login (waargh!)....eventually I gave up in disgust and logged off.

Full virus and spyware scan revealed nada on the hard-drive... all my drivers are up to date...

Face it, LL broke our toy - again....

i did not DL the new viewer and i am having all the same problems. just coincidental timing, i think.

if it is that big of an issue when your in world.. if you can see the X in the Upper right click that makes all your problems go away! if you do not see the X Ctrl Q it really works wonders to break away from SL you dont have to sit in front of your computer piss and moan none stop about SL being down... I used to be this way then I realized, what the fuck i'm just wasting my line away on this game... i should get out and get some fresh air and shit so try it.. you'd be admazed what you can do in First life

I take the point Jon: there's merit in RL... But don't forget that many people pay for their presence in SL, some of them a _lot_, and have to pay whether SL is up or down; whether they're taking the brisk RL walk you recommend, or not! Linden don't make repayments for downtime, failed logins (happening as I speak) and crashes, and so moans like Pound's are completely reasonable.

Check Linden's own figures: in the last year one in 5 'logouts' were in fact crashes.

Well I'm glad other people experience constant crashing for no reason. I have been crashing for over 18 months constantly, and I was told it was my machine, my connection and totally blamed me for the fault.

I wonder why Linden took away the in game help with the Lindens running it.

I personally think it was because they were getting bombarded every few seconds with major on going problems and could not sort them out.

What makes you think I dont pay for mine? I do, 10 dollars a month. The whole thing with that is also... you choose if you want to pay or not.. sure paying you can own land and shit... but again LL doesnt say YOU HAVE TO PAY IF YOU WANT TO PLAY!

I think the constant database problems that have seemingly plagued the grid for the last month (mind you its only the 20th and I think they have blogged about four different database error problems) are starting to catch up to them. As I see it, its finally piled up so much that the grid bandaids and paper clip supports are giving out.

LL needs to take the bull by the horns and seriously revamp their ideas about running the grid. Otherwise, SL wont be around by Easter of next year...

Just my 2 cents...not endorsed by anything other then frustration...

Comments like that are both unhelpful as well as showing a lot of ignorance. As if SERVERS "in general" are the only problem. It's like saying "it's the crap computers they use".

Yes, it's really boring at the moment - not only the last few days but the last few weeks! Lags increased, well known and long ago "solved" issues reappear...

I'm trying to save a 10-lines-script for half an hour now. I can't take objects back to my inventory.

I don't think I'll live long enough to see the Lindens introduce something like "quality management".

I just wanted to toss my two cents in here as I am completely frustrated with all of this nonsense. Why do we keep UPGRADING the client with new features when most of the time the old features do not work?

And why in the hell is the damn thing broken ALL THE TIME? My brother is a network engineer and this sort of QOS would simply not be tolerated at his lace of employment, so I keep wondering why it's tolerated in games and products of this nature.

While I really enjoy playing the game, I NEVER SEEM TO GE T TO PLAY THE GAME BECAUSE I AM ALWAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHATSWRONG WITH THE GAME!

A LITTLE LESS FEATURES AND A LITTLE MORE FIXING OF THE CURRENT ONES WOULD BE NICE! THANKS!
