TAKE COPY replaced by WEAR

I've noticed (too many times!) that when you right-click a prim and Edit it, the TAKE COPY command has been replaced by WEAR. Take Copy used to be at the 12 o'clock position, but has since been moved to 1 o'clock.

Does this bother anyone else when you automatically mouse to Take Copy but end up wearing your build instead? If so, please speak up and let LL know we'd like to have Take Copy back home where it was!

(:

Copy on the pie menu it most helpfull for the inventory -:)

you can go in click it copy it to inventory and it will automatically make a folder and name the folder for you , for the clothes or whatever you have in your objects folder ... makes the pain out of unpacking things one simpile step - not having to go ove and1. Make a folder 2. the painful prosess of taking every thing out 1 at a time cuz (sometimes things ar no copy )
3 .it such a times saver

i love this that lindens have made this available

WTG !! lindens ... job well done

I've already programmed out the reflex so it's not bothering me.

I can't say I object to the current positioning of the buttons. But I object to buttons being swapped without explanation. I wouldn't mind having it changed back, but a decision should be made quickly.

Yah, I can see their reasoning, it's bad reasoning, but I can see it... they wanted to add some new "rate" options, so they decided to make another "More" level. The "Wear" option was already under "More", and they considered it important so they put it in an "important" spot.

First mistake: making it another new "general" level rather than making "Ratings" a submenu (minimal change).

Second mistake: considering "wear" more important than "take copy" (it may be for some people, but for me "wear"ing stuff straight out of the world is a bad idea because that ends up shoving them into my "Objects" in inventory... I "Take" stuff and do inventory management first... *then* wear it... otherwise I'm too likely to leave the inventory management for later. I used to use it more because it was the only way to get it to check if you were wearing something on an already-used attachment point, but that reason's gone now.

Third mistake: not understanding that the main point to pie menus *is* muscle memory, and that blowing muscle memory away like this is a very bad idea.

I'm more of a scripter than a builder, but this thread caught my attention...

Please change this back. This is as bad as rewriting the function llGiveInventory to have the meaning of llAttachToAvatar. I would pull out what little hair I have left.

That's my view...

Er, no the main point of pies is not muscle memory. It's muscle movement minimization.

I never use the pie menu blindly, so the shift doesn't affect me. But I also don't see a point to why it had to be moved.

I am fairly new to SL, so it doesn't really affect me either way, but it seems like a terribly bad mistake in user interface design to arbitarily reassign button positions in this way. Moreover, all it would take at this point to fix the problem is to transpose the Wear and Take Copy commands so that Take Copy is returned to its familiar spot.

I didn't notice it till it was brought to my attention as I haven't been building recently, I can see it getting annoying to peeps who are used to it being one place though. Especially people who are doing demonstrations or instructing.

Yes, please move it back. I'm too old to wear boxes, houses, trees etc. I know, we should read the pie menus, but, well, habits are habits :)

Seleras...you go girl!

My old friend Seleras is right...

I get sick and tired of having to re-learn SL after every update...the pie changes, the edit/create behaviour changes, the mousing changes, the keyboard buffering changes, the lag increases, chat doesn't pop back, the pay doesn't default to the amount field....

GEEZ! You (insert politically correct substitution for idiots)! Don't you realize that you're alienating your user base? Fix the wrong stuff...I realize that Uncle Phil Linden wants you to show him what you "have done for him lately," but what good will that do if the only ones left are Lindens?

I love the SL platform, and spend an enormous amount of time and money here. I can't help but think that someone is going to develop a similar platform in the near future, and have a REAL business plan.

"If it feels good, do it" is not really the most effective way to manage program development...and if you don't understand this statement, read Philip Linden's blog: http://secondlife.blogs.com/philip/2006/07/the_tao_of_lind.html and all the responses. You'll understand why this version of SL is the buggiest yet!

Yes, it's QUITE annoying!

I've already worn my builds too many times; you don't want to hear what I'm saying behind the screen! ;)

Here's hoping they change it back - it's driving me bonkers! (yeah yeah, so it's a short drive :P)

Seriously, if they were going to change it, they should have given some kind of warning - change it back, please!

I totally agree with Argent's assessement. Please change this back, Lindens. It's annoying and negatively affecting a lot of people's productivity for no good reason. Granted, new users will probably take it in stride but it isn't good UI design and it is needlessly counter-productive.

Not only is it beyond annoying that the placements were switched, but more annoying that the menu was totally fubared at all! I can right click til my finger falls off and not get the menu with original options, but am stuck with the most useless "wear" "attach hud" menu .. all I want to do is use my teleporters or build a house etc and just try to sit on a pose ball when the menu keeps switching to "wear hud" ... BRING BACK THE OLD MENU PLEASE!!!!!

Yes very annoying. I kept wearing couches and chairs and stuff and having to find my hair in my inventory to put back on my head!

I hope they change it back. It's like switching the hot and cold water handles on the sink...and I keep getting burnt!

Aww, I was disappointed to see that Take Copy wasn't fixed in today's update. I was hoping to see Take Copy back at 12 o'clock today, but... no go.

I posted another request to SL Answers (/139/28/126537/1.html) linking to this thread, so if you have any more feedback about this, please don't hesitate to post!

Arbitrary UI changes are never a good thing. As a programmer it just bugs me.

They use cutting edge pie menus that let you operate them very quickly with muscle memory, then they mess it up by shuffling the positions around. Very annoying.
