couldnt agree more.............its crappy..........and why oh why do they keep forcing this crap on us when its not stable..............keep it beta...........as in an optional download for heavens sake........the previous version was just getting the tweaks sorted and was getting better and better...........then bang.......back to crap yet again..........

I lost 7k of items from my invent........... I submitted a ticket.........but couldnt wait for a reply..... I went to help island and got a great tip from an SL mentor......Sandie......( Thanks hon )

I was advised to download the beta grid viewer.........log in......and repopulate my invent by doing a search........it half did it..it took a couple of attempts.......but i got it all back in the end.........Not nice being stuck with No subfolders, no skins, accessories.......stuff i have built up during my time in SL.........all being threatened by some packet muching monster.....

Lindens may be ruling the universe in the virtual world markets.. but at this rate...its gonna be losing the peeps who keep them there. The policy of releasing viewers NEEDS URGENT REVIEW guys...................

The sim performance issues have nothing to do with the client; they're being fixed within the next day or two.

You mean they're going to trash the entire Second Life cluster in every colo and replace it with a topology that's not so sensitive to internode lag? In just a couple of days? WOW!

Oh wait, you mean they're not actually going to do anything at all. Gotcha.

various cllients to choose from?
04-15-2008 08:40
Someone posted that there are other client viewers to choose from so what's all the fuss about? Really? Where do I go to get to choose? Seems there are either happy SL'rs who haven't had a problem with the new version (ie so therefore why should WE all be complaining?) or the rest of us who can't bear SL now. My enjoyment of SL has been reduced to the point of me not even wanting to bother ---and I've been in SL 18 mos! They'd better fix this soon. I could care less about pretty clouds or water.

After this new update, I CTD almost immediately after my location starts to rez. I clicked yes to send a crash report and posted on a JIRA issue about it, but then I saw that the OP on the JIRA report was a year old. Where can I go to get some tech support, or should I do anything else to report this bug?

The problem seems to be solved. I had a lot of messages backed up, and someone seems to have deleted them. I hope there was nothing important, but I figure if there was they'll call back. :) Anyhow, I was able to log on and stayed on for an hour or two.

the problem is most certainly not solved. it has been crashing for me all day. i log in and it gives me a failure notice. once i do get on its only minutes before i crash again. and the lag...omg, its laggyier now than before. even in areas that weren't for me before.

this is very frustrating

I am recieving no crashs at all and the least lag ive ever experienced from sl so it must be your pc`s settup im afraid ( harsh reality but 100% true ) usin anything other than nvidia you will recieve problems intel graphics cant handle the pace and ati even thou there good cards there drivers are terrible and they are always late upgrading there drivers to new software .Try adjusting your graphics settings I am finding most people with problems are just plain lazy and dont learn how to configure an aplication to there pc properly .I do agree sl has problems but they are the same as theve always been so you seriously need to look at your pc settup before blaming sl .And as for the icons if we all made petty complaints about icons we would still be using DOS LOL.

I myself have no issues . But after awhile its always easy to blame people`s computers and th lack of their understand. Most of the time its not. Its LLABS side. It all depends. generial remarks of saying its someone computer at times makes no sence at all.

Can equally be your ISP, so check all 3 culprits.
Many ISP's throttle speed back during peak times or rout you th elong way around to save money.

Don't you people realize, LL does absolutely NO bug-testing or beta-testing? We ARE the beta testers!

Your monthly tier fees goes towards paying for soirees and luncheons and conventions where hoighty-toighty self-appointed experts of the "metaverse" greaze around with each other. Meanwhile the goddamned client continues to be the least stable software program ever created by mankind.

There was a time when LLABS did enough testing before they released. But since the voice release proved that LLABS doesnt care anymore they force us take it without care if we want it or not. When voice was released spelled the end to rational thinking but those so called experts in dealing with those issues. as i recalled on short minded Linden remarking "ITS BETA thats why the WA is so laggy" Then again this same Linden once said "OMG LAG" and never could get right the was to post a hyper link on the blog. So we expect those same Lindens to have a half a gram of a thought about releasing JUNK client releases without testing? .....why they even hire these lindens is a drain onthe mind how and why? Then again this same Linden always was fighting with everyone and lets some lindens run mucks omnthe blog and game banning anyone he felt stand in his way.........

These days i look at this way, if we are stuck with crappy CS and even worse rah rah lindens so be it...........Inthe Real World they would not beable to get a job at the local fastfood chain .

I copy paste what I have post on another thread .. try that !

OK ..I just read a great tip on SLEX forum .... in hardware options, instead of cutting half of the memory texture ... double it and that helps a lot ! I mean if you have a 512 mb graphic card, set it to 1024 and not only at 256 ... Run that with the Nicholas viewer that have a windlight patch (Eye Candy version) and try it !! It seems working for me !
(i have an ati x1650 pro 512 mb with AMD 3200+ 1GB ram)
