I just read and posted in a thread about the problems with non-modifiable items sold in sl.
I paid $350 for sneakers. Now I know this is expensive considering most sneakers go for a lot less but I paid it I didn't really care. But the sneakers in the ad really looked nice and I took a chance on buying them. Big mistake!
When I open the box there were 2 pairs of sneakers in there. I tried the first pair and they were tiny. I mean really, really tiny. Not small, but tiny with what looked like no toes. With long pants I couldn't see my feet coming out under my pants thats how tiny they are.
I tried on the second pair and these were the complete opposite, they were huge. These were clown shoes sneakers. I could fit about 4 of my feet in there and I still wouldn't cover the space I had leftover. I can't understand the humongous difference in size, why? Why one pair tiny and one pair huge? I can't see the logic in this.
I wrote to the person I brought them from and for almost a week I didn't hear anything back. Plus, I sent her 2 pictures of both pairs as I wore them so she could see how badly made they are. Finally, after a week she answers me. I explained again I couldn't wear the shoes and she said come over to her shop. I said, ok, I stopped what I was doing and asked her for a tp or a lm to get there. She said no. She said look for it on search. I told her I didn't know where her shop was or the name she refused to answer me. I waited for about 15 mins and although I asked her repeatedly for the name of the place she nevered answered back. OK, finally after waiting some more and not getting any response I asked her, so what now. She responded she was waiting on me. Again I asked her to send me a lm or a tp and again she said no, to look in search. Now how can I look when I have no idea what the name of the place is? I told her it didn't make any sense what she wanted, that it would of been much easier to tp there or with a lm especially since I wasn't getting the address or name of that place nor did I remember where it was.
She again refused then told me to have a nice day and that was that. She had a bad atittude from the start.
Later on we got into a heated discussion and she said I needed to adjust my feet to the shoes. Adjust my feet? I don't think I can make my feet either that tiny or that huge so this wasn't about adjustiing the feet, more like having these ridiculous sneakers replaced.
I have recorded the pictures of these ridiculous sneakers and the conversation I had with this person, Lianna N. Not only did she sell something she had to know couldn't be used but she then refused to do anything about it. So I told her she looked like she needed the $350 more then I did, to keep it.
This is why items especially clothing needs to be modifiable. This and the publics knowledge of people like this person who don"t know how to treat customers so no one should buy from her.
What's amazing is in her profile, she rants how sweet and caring a person she is but in reality she's far from it, more like a money starving cheat is more like it.

Unfortunatly its your responsibility to know what you pay for, I dont believe LL can do anything in the matter of this issue. Best thing to do is to contact the distributor, and warn your friends

I bought a pair of shoes the other night and the instructions told me to put my feet at size zero,so the shoes wouldn't look funny. It worked

Sorry to hear, that`s too bad. From: Ricardo Harris

Well no, clothing just kind of latches onto the shape of your body like plastic wrap, there`s no great need for clothing to be mod unless you`re wanting to tint it. Prim clothing/accessories, on the other hand, should be mod so the user can adjust it to their liking/fitting standards. However, if you buy from popular shoe designers they normally seem to have no mod shoes but atleast the proportions are realistic. Maybe shop at stores who are known to offer good customer service. That way if you have a problem with an item you atleast know you wont be ignored for a week and then not tended to. From: someone What's amazing is in her profile, she rants how sweet and caring a person she is but in reality she's far from it, more like a money starving cheat is more like it.
That`s usually how it goes. lol

Correct me if I'm wrong? Most women's shoes are set for size zero, and most men's are set for size 35 or something?

Maybe the shop was actually called 'Giants and Midgets Wonderland' which would explain the size.

Ricardo, the next time the owner of a store asks you to do a search, pull up their name in search or right click on the properties of the item in question. You'll find the makers name there. Thier profile usually has a link to thier store under favorites or classifieds.
The good show makers will either make their shoes mod or they will sell several sizes of each style. (small, med,or large)
I'm guessing that you were not cordial with here when you finally talked to her. (Did you consider that she might have been away on vacation for that week that she didn't respond?) And I'm sure your IMs to her got nastier and nastier as time went on and she didn't respond.

Would seem unreasonable that the seller of these expensive shoes would not oblige with a LM and or a TP (the standard way of getting about in SL), unless she/he was otherwise occupied in some skybox someplace and couldn't be bothered to breakaway to meet you at the shop. Perhaps there have been so many complaints, it was a fob off tatic... on the face of it, it certainly doesn't come under the heading 'good customer relations'. Were there any 'returns' policy notices about the store? Rather than 'print' the name of the owner, which will get the post locked and potentially you into trouble, maybe you could just post the name of the sneakers.. I'm sure the owner won't mind us all using 'search' to find out the store, owners name etc... and mark it as place not to shop in the future.

To put it in perspective, you lost about the cost of a bottle of soda in real money, and now you'll know not to shop there again.
People who set up stores and then treat their customers like annoyances never fail to baffle me, SL or RL.

Most shoe designers don't make their shoes modifiable, and for good reason - theft. If you can modify a prim, you can copy its properties and make a replica. One shoe maker who left her shoes modifiable had her designs ripped off by several people who copied them prim for prim. Generally speaking though, the shoes should fit if you resize your feet.

If I had my way in SL, there would be virtual changing rooms where we could try something on to see if it look good on us before we bought them. How many times have we bought something because it looked good in the picture only to find out that it doesn't look as good on us as we hoped. But this is the reality we exist in in SL. I'm sorry the OP got all worked up for his L$350 shoes. But I have spent far more on outfits, shoes and jewelry. Sometimes it's just not worth getting all that worked up for. Chaulk it up as a learning experience. If someone is not willing to risk L$350 on a clothing/shoes purchase, go find a cheaper option (they are out there). ... Jessica

sounds like you got a man's pair and a woman's pair. Standard practice for unisex items like sneakers.
Generally, in SL, feet are resized to fit shoes, not the more familiar RL way.

Then you guess wrong. The times I wrote to her after the first two times was more to see if she was on then to actually repeat what I had told her in the previous two messages. I'm aware people work and have other obligations and won't be on at all times. Even when she was on and didn't respond I thought maybe she had left her comp on as some people do although they're not here or was away. Plus I know being rude or nasty won't get you anywhere and I wanted the sneakers.

Changing your feet size to fit the shoe is common practice. Are you sure there wasn't a notecard in the folder that explained this.
Did you bother to check her profile picks for her store name?

Isn't that why people make demos you can try? With shoes and such, I ALWAYS try the demo, if there is one, to see if they look good on my avi.

I had a similar experience, I bought some boots, nowhere on the ad did it list perms, ,so I assumed they would be mod, as most good makers sell items moddable. however they were not. I was able to get a refund, but she was obviously not happy that I had 'rejected' her. I simply dont' support makers who sell things no mod, unless there is a very good reason for it, or it can't be avoided.

I'm not suggesting that you did this, but just a general tip for dealing with this kind of situation... don't IM the creator in an accusatory manner, acting as if you've been ripped off. IM them and politely explain that you really like the item but it's not working for you because... Chances are they'll happily adjust it for you and appreciate the constructive criticism. If you're rude and demanding then chances are you'll get a "talk to the hand."
