i wanted to switch back to v1.23, but it's hard to find a place where they have it.

but what i don't like about v1.23.4:

-Detach option has been switched on the left instead!
-the online names look like "anti-aliased" yet i don't have this option enabled in SL!
-They removed some options i might have liked.

Where can i download v1.23 client?

thanks.

WOW, I wish I could have any of those problems, I crash every time I try to log in with the new viewer. I'm currently trying to go back to the previous.

Yes. It's pretty much unusable in its present state if you're a dancer.

I have had to revert back to the older viewer also....I only last a few minutes online before crashing if I am lucky :( A rushed viewer which is by no means ready for public consumption as yet.....not good!!

Huge thumbs down :(

And when this was brought up on the SLDEV list, the Lindens said they considered this their most successful release ever.

Me, I normally wait until the complaints about an RC start to die down before I try one. This is the first time the RC has gone mainstream before that happened.

but did they define successfull for who ??

back prev viewer no vanish textures prims ...no FPS strangely cut..

still the broken ims etc..........but happier

As for bugs if they made the JIRA less arcane they may get better responses..

My english is not so bad but that report system is simply nightmare...

may be accurate etc etc but not friendly ...direct quite few even native speakers too

and they runn away screaming..

Or is this another way to say no one complained ......

because it is released before they understand how too....

am sure many find it extreme easy the report..........but many do not too

Want realistic feedback make it fast easy to give

as it is lot of entry no seem to be bugs just general the viewer bad comments

When I log on I am a cloud, never hapened before. Everything rezzes slower. And why mess with the pie chart? What advantage was realized by that. Don't know what else is screwed up as after 2 times I wnet back to the previous viewer. Much better.

Yes, I am also a cloud, it lasts too long, but it is better than it was a week ago. Also, sometimes, my face disappears and only my eyes are there...that is weird.

I take a ton of pics on sl for my products, and I always use the ctrl ~ to do a screenshot with fabulous clear HUGE results...when I installed the new version and tried that it cut my pic off at the chest...I then moved my cam much further away to see if I could fit on the screenshot and it worked,BUT when the pic was opened it was soooo fuzzy and horrible looking..this is something I used at least 200 times a week or more...I went back to 1.22 within 5 screenshots lol. Also the pie chart changes SUCK! What a stupid thing to mess with....oh well not like the lindens care lol as long as new people join and give them money they are happy!

Ditto. The loading progress bar just sits there forever.

(Can you CALL it a progress bar if it never actually progresses?).

[EDIT] Downgrading didn't fix the problem and it's come good now. I dunno what the issue was, but it probably wasn't (solely) 1.23.4's fault.

I agree. Changing the menu layout? I am growing tired of fixing-that-which-ain't-broke.

It's nothing earth-shaking, but one has to wonder who it is in management who has so little to do he/she just has to tinker with menus when things like group chat and notices aren't working, avatars still refuse to rez, sculpties take ten minutes to rez and textures are still taking forever to load.

I mean, get real. Menu changes? You don't change operational layout without seriously good reason.

When I first heard about the pie menu change it sounded like a good idea... but it was going to simply be using one of the unused slices on the existing menu to let you get to the body menu when you clicked on an attachment, not a wholesale re-arrangement.

The new Appearance option also took the place of Detach when you right-click on HUDs. As annoying as that is, there's something even worse that I'll do my best to describe.

There are five options for Aspect Ratio in the Graphics section of Preferences. Four of these are predefined, like "4:3 (Standard CRT)" and "16:9 (Widescreen)". The other one at the top of the drop-down list appears to be whatever the current setting is. When I first logged in with 1.23.4, this was set to 0.00000 and I had no idea what was going on. So I eventually noticed the aspect ratio and set it to the second item in the list "4:3 (Standard CRT)", and my screen went back to normal.

So now if I open Preferences it will say my aspect ratio is simply "4:3" on the top one. Then if I choose OK at the bottom, no matter what else I do in any section of Preferences, it sets my aspect ratio to 0.0000 again. If I just do Apply and cancel, it will set my aspect ratio to 0.0000 if I do alt-tab. So then I go back into Preferences, notice that Aspect Ratio is set to 0.0000 and select the second item in the list "4:3 (Standard CRT)" and my screen goes back to normal.

The only way to make it not get set to 0.0000 is to go to the Graphics section and change Aspect Ratio to "4:3 (Standard CRT)" whenever I open Preferences. This is insane, after a few days of this I am now going back to 1.22 (I've been on vacation, apparently at the same time as the quality control people).

Using Snowglobe now, it seems to have everything from 1.23.4 except for that problem.

Thank you for the link to the old one :) I'm thinking of sending it out to my groups. LL should pack this one back into a beta format.

I can hardly build.. prims keep disappearing and when working with small prims, I zoom in and 'poof'...they're gone.

Yes, my body disappears too... just the eyeballs left...lol Not even Halloween yet and it's down right scary.

I noticed yesterday another person in the vicinity.. only knew they were there because of their name and pants...no body.

Until today, group IM's were just annoying. Always a message window that said it no longer existed. Today it's been fine so far.

The pie chart changes are nonsensical. A person gets used to clicking on certain areas quickly. Now I'm searching around the dumb thing... not productive at all.

And I won't even begin to go into the loss suffered from this past weekend's crash. Wondering if I'm not just wasting my time altogether...but SL is just a nice distraction when I'm not distracted by bugs.

Yes Zanza, this last weekend was especially devastating to the Relay For Life Fantasy Faire. Last two days of the Faire and SL bombs. And what's the (claimed) reason? One of their associate sights had a "power failure".

I have power backup on my home computer system. If the power goes out... my own kicks in. In addition, I have to kind of wonder how it is that 8,000 sims being offline results in total shutdown of people being able to log in? That hints at far more than just a power failure.

Over the last 5+ years, I've predicted with 100% accuracy all grid crashes on Second Life (within 2 weeks of the crash... 7 for 7). I'm not bragging, I'm making a point: if mere customers can accurately predict grid crashes, why can't the people at Linden Lab do so? (and hopefully prevent such)

Mind you, I'm surprised SL doesn't crash more than it does. It's a complex system. I have no problem with such things; stuff happens. What I do have problems with is failure to meet basic expectations (chat, notices, texture loading, inventory management, etc), greed and misinformation.

We have group chat that is not working, group notices not reaching members (really LL... how hard is it to send a notice to a list of names?), textures tha take forever to load, sculpties that never rez, invisible avatars, an increasing avalance of inventory items "no longer in database", a viewer cache problem that is creating a delay-of-service cascade on LL's own system... etc etc etc. Contrary to company claims, SL is performing worse now than in my memory of board operations. How bad does it have to get before Linden Lab drops everything and attacks the foundation core code?

Instead, they make an attempt at windfall profit-grabbing and turn a blind and heartless eye as over 5,500 sims shut down and thousands of people leave Second Life. That's inexcusable attitude. When a company stops caring about the creations, needs and emotions of its customers, that company's future is limited.

Other thousands can't even use the system any more. I have a quad-core, Nvidia 9800 GTX graphics syste with fast cable access-- and only recently I've had to knock my draw distance down to 128m-- for the first time in history-- so that I can move around SL without lagging. When a person has a super-powerful computer and they STILL lag-- that tells me LL just does not have its act together. It's obvious that neither the asset system, server software or client software is at the point it should be after nine years of development.

We have told Linden Lab for years that their corporate policies and attitude would eventually turn and bite them in the butt. Looks like that's what's happening.
