It's simple...
My machine has plenty of clearance over what this pissant game requires. From having an SL experience with minimal lag, able to do multiple things, run messengers through the same internet connection on a different machine... I now have CRUD.

I spent 90minutes waiting for my inventory to upload. It still hadn't completed. I go to places I have been hundreds of times, and I cannot see my own AVATAR! THIS UPDATE IS PATHETIC!!!

I have been trying to run a club, to be there to host parties. But I couldn't even walk into the SAME SIM as the party without SL crashing. I have read what I can find about the requirements, I don't use NAV or NIS, I have 1.18.2.1 and I have to put up with CRAP.

The Lindens better start reading these forums again and ACTUALLY RESPONDING to what is put here. Since $L now count for legal goods (since it is illegal to gamble with them in SL) then I am curious to see if I could sue LLabs for Fraud or "Releasing Non-Merchantable Quality Goods" (or whatever the US equivalent is) or something else. The idea that we can do whatever we can imagine in SL is dwindling... it is getting trampled under the useless programming and MANDATORY updates forced upon us by LLabs

Problem is they are not even fixing these issues! All they doing is with the voice related issues. I wonder how long people are going to stand for this BS. everyone had to update to this pieve of junk voice client, ( where before in the non voice there were no issues.) Oh yes you can turn off voice, but problem is the coding is totally screwup and the old rotation camera bug is back again. Freezes randon crashing etc is YET again friends withthe this voice client.

512? you might get more now. Memory is not the costly and will increase you playblity. i don`t care what the mini Req says ( oh you can play at a low level) but frankly if your running below 1 giga your asking for problems.

I am looking into getting a 1GB or higher computer system now, and also a Nvidia video card! Before the mandatory upgrade I was able to run SL with no lag problems, oh sure I crashed and lagged at times...but a simple relog was all it took to fix that problem! Now it is just alllllll LAG and freezing up on me. I think the people that are not having lag issues are the ones with a great system and it doesnt effect them!

LLabs it seems might be losing a lot of SL resisdents due to this, which means less pocket change for them...UNLESS THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

You'll have to go WAY high end. I've got a GeForce 8600 and 2 GB of ram ($100 each!) and SL runs at *exactly* 32 frames per second--decent enough*, but given that my latop prior to the update got 12 and is now getting 4....my desktop might not last long.

*more FPS than I've ever had before. I remember days when my laptop got 20 fps until I put on my isle of wyrms avatar, which caused anyone who could see it to drop 5 fps (and I was happy at 15 most of the time). Subsequent updates caused the upper number (i.e. without av) to decline slowly, but the lower number (with av) declined almost imperceptibly until one day I was running at 12 fps no matter what I did (unless I turned of rendering, then I could get 60 fps of black nothing).

Thats might be true, we been saying this for a very long time about connection issues, clients spec be incorrect for playailty. Don`t feel bad because I am now getting nightmarish problems now because of the worthless voice client. Before it i had no problems using pre voice client. But NO! now with this crap they made us down load i am freezing, textures are no loading correctly etc. I don`t know what the coders did to this client. But its seem there is a whole new series of people working on this client? Because I seeing more broken codes, worse then normal camera rotation freezing. Textures not loading etc. Its like those that worked onthe client are nolonger doing it and a whole new team of coders are now do it. All withthe voice part of this crappy UI turned off! What makes me laugh are those people throwing me notecard explaining o me how to use voice? Strange because its these same dum people that say " DA I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH VOICE" Well GOOD FOR YOU" I don`t know where you going on sl, but i have to tell you your doing one hell of a BS PR job for LLABS. One person went out of his way to point out why some don`t want voice.( because of Men playing Women ). Well then again if i was that person wife in RL I wouldnt want to be married to such a loser myself and would rather be a none human! Then again this same person is not a very good sim builder neither. But he was smart enough to shape the island the form of a PlayBoy Rabbit (HINT ).

The thing that has always seemed strange to me is that I seem to get a more reliable service with respect to SL (fewer crashes, less lag etc., higher framerate) out of my 6-year old desktop PC than with XP SP2, 384mB 266MHz memory and a 64MB integrated Vid card than I do from my 10-month old laptoop with XP SP2, a gig of significantly faster memory and a 256Mb vid card...

No idea as to why... but I refuse to upgrade the desktop until I can get a good explaination...

I have not experienced the 30-45 second freeze issue, but since it didn't start until a recent voice version, it should be gone if you fall back to the pre-voice that Nicholaz has. That one seems to work fine on the current grid.

Nicholaz has two versions now:

1. Based on SL pre-voice (1.18.0.6); his version (nicholaz-OS-m). Download from: http://www.blueflash.cc/users/nicholaz/OldSchool/

2. Based on SL release candidate (1.18.3.5); his version nicholaz-BE-p. Download from: http://www.blueflash.cc/users/nicholaz/BleedingEdge/

His installation instructions are easy but a bit unusual, so do read the text files and follow them.

His "release candidate" version is voice-enabled (obviously), and he has been working on the 'freeze' issue. I use this version now, it works well. You might want to try it if you want voice and have been getting freezes -- I know he has been working in that area.

Now I am madder than ever....I removed Second Life from my computer to reinstall it, and now I am getting an error message that the file I am trying to download is corrupted. I have tried numerous times to download it and I still get the same error! Well I guess I am deffinately done with SL for good!
