I think what he ment by your connection was not your ISP but how well you connect to SL servers. Might have nothing to do with your computer at all. I have a very similar setup as JayDee but only running 2000mhz and things also run pretty smooth unless the sim is crowded or there is a lot of scripts and textures loading like in a store.

The lag has gotten way to stupid though. I used to own land, build clubs and had a few stores but it got so difficult to make new stuff and just simply build I gave up on it and just pop in now and then to talk with friends. SL is not turning out to be what many thought it could be including LL. Not sure what they can do about it.

Yeah that is more specific to what I mean. You can have the fasted ISP in the world but if your route to SL's servers are not so go then it dosn't matter.

I am not sure how you could do a ping test to the servers as I have no idea what IP addresses to ping. Just for the record I have Comcast Cable that is 6000kbs down 386kbs up.

Try http://www.speedtest.net/ to make sure all is right. Maybe try from were you are to Texas and California. Would be nice to have a specific IP from SL's servers though.

I feel your pain though. There has been clients were I could not use SL hardly at all and most people had no issues. Now I can use it just fine and a few others are having issues.

Also what I mean by just fine is it is somewhat useable. As Jodina said things have got to the point it is a waste of time to do much more than just talk with a people. I also used to build and run clubs and found it not worth the investment. Back in 2005 it was a lot faster but there wasn't as many people either.

Anyway good luck. The new Beta Client seems to suck for me. I really hope they don't make that mandatory anytime soon.

Well these days on island people seems to lets scripts to go to high extreems. People need to detail their remarks because of misunderstanding like that of correction and ISP.

Yes Lag has been getting out of control but then again thats LLABS side of the problem. They refuse to fix issues but instead blame the users. When some one is in a 35 popualtion island with over 8000 scripts running INDEED there is a need to contols. Alone that same thought Voice seems to be LLABS selling point regardless of the mounting issues and broken UI. Bug reports and tickets seems to really do no good when "random crashing, freezes etc. It always makes me laugh with i read the release notes for a new patch none of which applies to crashes, and freezes. Why? Because LLABS is too busy caring hoilding kissing, babying the voice part f this nightmarish Voice Client.

This is 100% true! some where along the way LLABS has throwout rational thinking and changed sppeds somw where between uncaring and totally un controlable

I have tried everything to get rid of the lag in SL since the madatory UPGRADE! What a piece of CRAP it is! It takes forever to do anything, and rezzing never completes when I go into a new SIM, the lag is so bad that it takes 10 minutes to get a piece of clothing off or to show up, my avi doesnt move, I freeze up all the time, and I crash constantly. I know it is not my cable internet, as it runs at 10 megs. I even deleted my SL cache, deleted SL off my computer and reloaded it, and it still lags and crashes. I have even deleted all temporary internet files, cookies and history and it hasnt helped with the problem. I even went as far as trying another internet provider, but I know that is not the problem either...It is this shitty SL upgrade! Everyone I run into says they are lagging and crashing, and they cant rezz into sims fast like they used to. I am on the verge of deleting SL all together, and never coming back or sending anyone to this crappy SIM game! I am so frustrated with it that it is no longer fun, and it is just really pissing me off now. I have also decided not to buy anymore Lindens or buy a premium account!

No it isnt a bogus post...I am very frustrated with SL now after the new upgrade! I found out that with the new upgrade you need more memory to run SL now (not to mention a high priced video card), which is going to limit many users from SL. So before you go assuming about a post, you should ask more questions! And YES I did sign up to demo another internet provider (CLEARWIRE) to see if that helped....now dont you look like a FOOL!

that was a few months ago. If you can afford the electricity to run a computer, you can aford to make upgrades, they are not as expensive as people think.

I find video cards have little to do with. Memory is a big issue. I got 2gigs on the main comp and SL used 1gig of it alone. The other comp has 1.5gigs. When I was using 512 SL was a lot less friendly.

Also hit ctrl-alt-del and open task manager while SL is running and see if there is any other things using CPU power. If there is SL will lag like hell.

I used a 5500GT for a long time. Its strong vedio card. Problem is with the drives at times the UI is so porrly buildt that eat memory and leaks likes crazy. But how are updating the drivers that card is no longer supported? And from why i heard from users over the past 1 1/2 they are either crashing out of the game and are unstable. This post is strange and i can`t see ths person running a 5500 GT on this current client level. THis post might not be real.

This is getting to be a joke. I still getting freezing occurance happening. Why? And Why does LLABs coders start addressing these problems then playing with voice part of the UI? Over and over again all i see is voice fixes and not crashing and freezing bugs? There just be 1000`s of bug crash reports being set in? Why are they not dealing with it? And if they are why don`t they with try to fix them of just create a NON VOICE client. Now i have voice turned off, but i getting the same freezing etc when i use to use this client? Never had this problem with non voice............. Rotation of the camera results in slight freezing as well........WHY WHY WHY must we be subject to Download a crappy worthless Client that only uses more stress and problem for it users? The non voice client did not have these Issues? and I highly doubt its LLABS server router either.

I run the GeForece 8600 and 2GB ram. It's enough. For now.
/me is running at 32 fps with one client, 64 m draw, all rendering (i.e. the debug stuff), and most graphics turned on (shiney, bumpmap, etc. I forget everything).

Note, for you ATI users: the GF8600 is slightly better than an ATI Radeon X1650, but not by much.

My laptop (Radeon 9000 mobile) still runs SL, but not very well.

Not sure what the problem is, but the rotation and freezing are yet again more and more. What is it with the pre voice client and the voice client? pre voice had zero problems. But with this voice client nothing but problems.

Wireless is a no-no when using SL... Check the FAQ. ;>
