Usagi, sorry, can you say more clearly what the problem is? I don't understand what you mean by "client long pulse".

From: Nika Talaj Usagi, sorry, can you say more clearly what the problem is? I don't understand what you mean by "client long pulse". Meaning "GAPS" Frames stalling 10 sec between frames Or better terms " the client is doing 10 to 30 freeze"

Ahhh yes this one, the freeze. Lots of people are seeing this, Nicholaz is soliciting more information on exactly when it happens to see if he can get closer to the cause. Thanks, and good luck with it.

Yes, I believe that actually this is ONLY seen in the voice client. It is one of the main reasons why you see people passionately clinging to the pre-voice version.

Nicholaz hacked the pre-voice client, usagi, so it can still be used. seems to work fine on my desktop machine.

I used the latest RC with Nick's viewer on top yesterday and didn't have those freezes.

You can always use the RC with Nick's viewer and just have voice switched off, it will still look like the old viewer, ie normal chat window!

I don't use the beta or RC /"First Look " viewers and Nick hasn't done a fix for the Current issue viewer, so I'll wait until the RC becomes mandatory, and then not if this okd scholl will continue to work, avoiding having Voice contaminating my machine.

It's a completely separate process-as long as you don't activate voice, it's...just not there!

I am using 1.18.2.1 from the main download page http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php and it runs pretty damn smooth. I usually hang out in highly populated areas 35+ people and things obviously take time to load and is a little laggy but pretty smooth over all considering the amount of data moving around. Specs: ASRock KF6G-VSTA ATI X1950Pro 256meg 2 gig PC3200 AMD XP3000+ @ 2400mhz 7200RPM Maxtor 200gig IDE hard drive Win XP (been installed for years on 3 different comps) This is a low end computer to todays standards. Works fine.

I am not going to sit around a debat this issue. If your setting are alway turned down " MAYBE" you can make it throught 35. But high population area in real terms means 50 min to 100 popualtion.

That's weird I had this with the old versions, but from 1.18.2 and up, I no longer have these 10-30 second stalls (I am using a mac). Must be difficult problem to tackle I think. With the older versions I could get it to stop (the stalls) by disabeling the object-object-occlusion in the debug menu. However frame rates dropped because the client had to process all textures and prims, even if they are not in sight. Good luck, Meni

From: Alyx Sands AfaIk, most sims limit it to 40. Everything else is too much. Yes they are.... Only half wit greedy private sim owners raise it above 40. All main land sims are default to 40 people max. My vid settings are maxed but these problems are not video specific. I also have another machine running Linux with and old Geforce4 5500 that runs SL just as smoothly with a few setting turned down and the computer is considerably older and slower. I also used to have the delays he speaks of but they disappeared after the latest client release. I did do a complete removal and reinstall of all SL clients though. Including the cache and setting folders that seem no to get deleted by the uninstall utility. Also Usagi I am not debating anything with you. Your computer has higher specs than mine and I have no issues, I even run voice on. So just saying it may not be the client. Might be your connection to SL or something eating up your CPU usage other the SL. I notice if anything else is using CPU the SL runs like crap. Anyway good luck. All I can suggest is uninstall all SL clients and foldes (maybe save the log files if you log chat) and reinstall fresh.

Jo its njot the connetion, had a new router install last week. deep a cleaning of the computer programs etc....... I have a 100mb fible optical connection. Its surely not these issues. As I said population of 35 is not many these days. But what might be causing the problems is LLAbs servers. Usagi
