Personal Boycott of ads listed with/on ad farms

yeah we'll see how they feel when i buy out their neighbours for $20/m2 and cocoon their home in spinning screaming adblocks.

yes of course, i would do it with a smile on my face ...
that is, if it really bothered me

but im not one of those 10's of 1000's of people on this Web Site,
(because thats all this is, is a Web Site, otherwise known as Second Life),
who bring from their Real Lives to infect Second Life with their
Real Life moralities, and their Real Life moral values and convictions,
and other issues ... as well as their personal problems, anger, frustrations,
pressures, pyschosies and agendas, as if they dont have enuf of those
to deal with in their Real Lives.

it seems to me that many people are more concerned with
spending most of their time on Second Life, and in forums,
with either their prostelizing, or their restricting.

in fact, Second Life and LL is guilty of the very same thing.
But then, it is their Web Site, and since Second Life is only just a Web Site,
they can do anything they like with it.

so, so much for the overused and overwrought concepts of
YOUR WORLD YOUR IMAGINATION -- that Second Life IS A GAME --
and the often used and very weak personal conscious ethic
declared by many members, I KEEP MY RL SEPARATE FROM SL ...

now thats what i would call Repetitive Garbage


what really brings a smile to my face is how the collective
comes to SL presumably for escape, fantasy, and maybe new friendships,
but instead find themselves swept up by their Real Life moral indignations,
preach-fests and crusades.


as i see it ...
it is not the poop-at-your-door-garbage AD FARMS that is the real issue,
(as it is only but one of many instances that can be construed as
an obscenity on SL, depending on ones point of view)

perhaps what is at the heart of the issue is that the goals
of Linden Labs/Second Life, and the goals of some of the members
of Second Life are in conflict with eachother.

it didnt take me very long to realize that
imo Second Life is just like Real life, but only worse.

so yea ... either build a wall, or wait until they move,
since most things on SL are extremely transitory ...
or find another location, or just leave Second Life altogether
for another Web Site, where their goals and the goals of
Your World and Your Imagination, along with your sensibilities
are not in conflict with eachother.

You're right, it just is a game, LL really restrict us, if we really had true freedom we should be able to just take other peoples land, money and items by killing their AV's or at least allow us to destroy other peoples objects.................

Walls are lovely ways to block spinning ads - until the ads come spinning through your walls. Stylee, your new ad farm signs advising people to make money through buying ad land are a nice touch - though some of us prefer to use small lots for other purposes - but please, luv, move your sign in Armon Gill so it stops spinning through our wall. My friend's "Die Ad Farm Scum Die" sculpture wasn't directed at you personally - it's the whole concept, really.

I would like to know, also, how it is determined who is in the 'majority' clicking on the ads, since most everyone I know avoids them like the plague. But maybe I'm just not cool enough to know the right people.

Well any one left a rotating sign coming through onto my property especially after I had put up walls not to see it would get a MegaPrim cube blocking their 16m plot out of existance, it could stay looking like a thick stone brick wall forever as far as I care

If someone has made their prims overlap your boundaries, abuse report it, and it should get dealt with.

A real ad might be nice for a change. What I've got staring down at me from the 16 m ad farm plot behind my store is a tall tower of rotating blocks of pics of Rudy Giuliani's head and sad to say, it isn't his best pic, either. Nothing against the man, but I swear his eyes are following me no matter where I go or what I do. It's getting to be rather creepy and I'm afraid he's going to start scaring away my customers.

I really do try to keep my real life separate from my second life but suddenly I'm having bizarre nightmares about Rudy chasing me around Norway with a fly swatter and snow shoes, trying to get me to vote for him. (I think the air conditioner was set too cold that night).

Seriously though, the buy option says they want $10,500 for the plot and sad to say, I'm almost ready to cave in and pay it. What bothers me is that it could all be a scam just to get me to pay that ridiculous amount so I can be rid of the eyesore and I don't think that's right. I have the only store near the ad and I don't think that's a coincidence.

By the way, I did finally build a tall wall to block him out but I know he's still behind there, laughing at me....taunting me....

I too blocked Rudy on all four sides, and the jerk ad farmer originally wanted $9500 for the lot, then when I blocked him wanted $20k for the plot, not its not for sale. No worries on my part but I don't have to look at Rudy because I built as 16 sq m towering into the sky wall on all four sides. And for a while I ran a photo of Rudy in drag from Saturday Night Live, just to help with his Rudy cause!

Its probably the same bloody ad farmer, with alts all using the names Benetto for sir names.
