While the controls and interface aren't always the most intuitive, I found the opening experiences on the Help island a welcoming and positive experience. 15 minutes in there and I knew how to control things, move around, etc. Another few minutes of searching around and you are tp-ing around like a bouncing bunny.

Yay i mean thats like first rate DRAMA

I would say 8 form 10 points, the "my feelings where hurt and my ego crushed" part would need a little more work.

I am by faar not the brightest lightbulb arround but with the simple rule "read whatever you find, noone invests time to write useless stuff" i got into the basics in 20 minutes, into building in 2 hours.

And no i had no higher education.

Simply like every RPG, information is power, knowing where the weak point of an monster is is based on information, knowing how to move in a world is information.

And how to move in SL, really.

Left hand on the arrows and PgUp and PgDn and right hand on the mouse to "turn your head" I mean, more perfect movement controlls you can make, really.

My computer is nothing special, Its as average as you can go.
If your computer is somehting special with high parts and stuff, hei, theres always a drawback in using high end, especially compatibility.

I prefer the WSAD layout that also ships by default. E jumps, C crouches. ALT+Rotate (A or D) or is it SHIFT+Rotate will strafe....can't get any simpler than that. It's similar to most FPS games nowadays....I still need to write a keybinding configuration program. :/

I can admit that it works very well, but with the amount of chat people end up doing, it might not be the best layout for SL. Not to say that it should be done away with.
(And in my opinion, I hate WASD controls for shooters too, the W is ofset just enough that I'll miss the key alot).

I certainly can sympathize with this guy's story. It seems like LL is purposely weeding out the people who won't put up with bull**** right at the beginning. Only the addicts survive newbism.

Sorry to hear about that hax. I figured before i read the topic you were going to say "i dont like SL cuz of the terrorists who attack it every day". But either way you made a valid point. I hope where ever you go next will be better.

You're not contributing anything by this thread. You're just whining about something you don't like.

I wish people would just leave quietly if they didn't like things, these sorts of sideshows make the situation seem worse than it is.

Well, good luck at any rate. I'm sorry your SL experience wasn't all it could have been.

On the other hand, the big fit you seem to be throwing is a bit unnecessary.

Either way, sorry it didn't work out. D:

Don't feel all that sorry for him... after getting some forum attention he obviously figured that SL is a nice playground after all, despite all this horrible trouble he went through: /142/d9/139350/1.html

Dear Hack,
Sorry to hear of your problems I remember being a newbie, but what I dont understand is how you started out completely naked? I started out as ruth and with some clothes sl gave me.

I hope you get the card issue fixed and come back and try sl again. This time go to help island . And when you leave help island ask anyone who has been here a while for help... we love to help.

Ok bye, have fun.

What? thought everyone was going to say "Oh noes! DON'T GO, STAY!"?

Could care less who leaves as that just means more room for me. Maybe a close friend would care more?

If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be half-as much fun.
