Great Gorean Auctions!

Is this about the thing with the website and the magazine and the article and the calling of the names and the dissing of certain members of the FIC?

What I think would be great is if people found another form of validation other than the high-school popularity contest disguised as award programs. If I get all of my buddies to vote, it makes my stuff better? Really?

Amen.

I wish we could do more exhibitions. Like the couple of scripting fairs that happened. Let anybody enter and we can all decide for ourselves what's hot.

Besides, it's all a matter of taste. You can make an absolutely perfect pastel floral dress and I'm to vote for the crappy black leather shorts instead --- simply because I hate pastel floral and dig black leather.

The box office competition was not a competition of the sort that Jon describes though...

Yes I understand...point taken :)

I am just suprised at how little community support there is for starting up a contest/competition, etc. I have stated on several threads that I'm willing to sponsor or provide a venue for a contest/competition/whatever and did not get a single reply. Maybe it is my name or something :)

I plan to start a competition soon. I don't expect much from it in its first few incarnations but am hoping that it will eventually pick up. The compeition is likely to be based on scripting something useful and the judges will be based on a panel of community volunteers. This is assuming, of course, that I find volunteers. More to follow.

well in general there i very little support of anything positive here, in world thatis nott he case so much, but if you ever make the mistake of saying something positive, or pointing out someone that you think has done a good job, prepare to be buried by the negitive trolls who just camp here waiting for the oppertunity to piss on someone :(

*yawns*

I too, have decided to return all awards that I've given myself, and shall sit here in a mock self-righteous indignation. I do this in protest of the fleck of dust that landed on my shoe and had the audacity to marr its leathered shine.

And may that be an example to you all.

- Newfie

Newfie, you are just so funny sometimes!

Thing one: I realize there are people who have determined to their own satisfaction the very probable guilt of another party, and I don't doubt that.

But - you know, they really could have something wrong, it is not REALLY beyond the shadow of a doubt and all that, and this isn't really any court of law, etc., so I say, imagine if you are wrong? Wouldn't that be terrible? Just terrible, what is being done to this person?

Thing two: And imagine if you are right. Is it still worth it, what is being done to this person? I read those papers. I understand how horrible it feels. It's not nice, very hurtful things were said in them. Moreover, I know it is uber disturbing to feel you have been betrayed by a friend in your midst, but wouldn't turning a personal cold shoulder be the more appropriate response?

After all, what we're talking about here is anonymous papers saying nasty stuff about people. Which so happens to be done EVERY DAY right out in the open to people on these forums. My goodness, just as terrible things are said to me here in the forums every day, and I don't notice people trying to ruin those who have said them to me. On the contrary.

In other words, the "crime" of writing those anonymous papers on a third-party site looks like less of a crime to me than what is being done to this person in the forums (and likely in-game too) as a result. And that's even if this person actually wrote the papers. Imagine if it wasn't her! That would be awful.

So it looks worse on y'all than it does for her, if you wanna know the truth.
