Protest to be held at the birthday celebration

Won't be protesting. If I get back from my doctors appointment irl and am not in traction, I will be partying.

All I ask is that you please don't fill up the sim with protesters, because there's a bunch of us who just want to visit and have fun. Thanks.

There's a good number already there with an hour and a half to go... many of them wearing our protest material.

Several Lindens have already dropped by and expressed no concern over our presence - and in fact have asked for copies of our t-shirts and signs.

This really does just strike me as griefing. I understand the thought behind it, so I'm torn. Power to the people, but that the same time, your rights end where mine begin. Ruining someone's hard work, Linden otherwise, isn't a "success". Nothing you do will be a success until the policies change, and I doubt you'll wake up Monday and find that's the case. Lindens are already aware, many evidently agree with this side of the argument, but they have their own agenda. Things like this will not alter their plans, just mess with the innocent bystanders trying to have fun who can't do a thing about the problem. The only way anything will change will be on Linden Lab's own agenda, and this issue is already high-profile enough that giving it more exposure it like giving Anshe L$1. It's just another drop in the bucket.

Well the open registration is pretty much a double edges sword. If you want them to reinstate the verification then ask them to first reinstate the basic stipend and their startup bonus to. Because without that why bother verifying a thing? Really its a fine line between asking for information with nothing to gain and most people just wont do it. Simply put b4 basic accounts actually got something for giving out their info they do not now.

While LL does want more numbers and this system does cause a potential for more griefers simply put the people that are going to come into SL and grief are going to come into SL one way or another and grief. They wont just end it if you make verification tougher etc. This is probably also a consequence of people screaming to stop new money coming into SL. More greifers MAY come into SL its not proven that they will. Also with doing away with the basic bonus you create more griefers in turn and people begging, scamming etc. As these people now have 0L they often do what they can by any means to get money.

Essentially this created a situation where they are almost forced into it or they have to buy money or become premium. Forcing them to make this choice is kind of nasty really =/. It wasnt a neccassary change I'll agree but in all fairness i see why LL did it it's to balance the fact that new players get ZIP!!! I havent seen an increase in griefers. Some dense people but not griefers.
