THE Elbow Room GONE and so is elex

OMG i can`t believe this the Elbow Room is gone! and so might be elex himselve.....
This is a sad day

It sure is...unfortunately thats the way it is in real world.... the good leave and the crap still keeps going and going and going.

What i don`t understand is how can he just close this thing after all the fun people had......I mean dissapointment is part of everyday life but this is really no differetn.

I'm sorry if you disagree, if you feel it belongs elsewhere I can submit it for Linden Review and they can see if it is better suited elsewhere.

Personally i can careless these days about issues of moving threads. because its jsut another big problem that sl is going thur. hence..............i said my peace..

This is too bad. It's going to get to the point where no one provides any entertainment at all except out of the charity of their own hearts and pocketbooks.

You know, while I liked the Elbow Room and consider Elex a friend, I'm not sure if your statement above is a bad thing.

Entertainment is at its finest when its done from the heart. Otherwise you end up with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and all the other talentless clones out there. The event in Philly this past weekend proved that in RL and SL, events are best when they're done because of a passion for the entertainment being provided; not for a quick buck.

I was on SL this morning and decided to see how the ol' "ER" was. Once I saw empty land, I about cried. I never got to say "good-bye" to Elex, "The Elbow Room," or many of the older regulars. If Elex did decide to close down, I wish him all the best in RL & SL. You've helped me in more ways than you'll ever know. You've been a true asset to SL. Godspeed my old friend.

I agree with that, Flipper. I don't think entertainment or creativity, for that matter, are worth much unless they come from the heart.

But - the pocketbook is also a reality. I don't know if that was a factor in this case, but it is a factor for many.

My own case, for instance. When I came here, I planned to do the Game Show Channel, as I did in TSO, but a look around quickly told me that would be very hard to do, especially from the get-go, as a new resident.

I could have made and sold stuff in ORDER to afford to be able to do the game show place, but that wasn't for me, either, as I like to devote myself entirely to things.

I saw that I would greatly enjoy the creativity of making things, as well, and wouldn't want to do it just to support something else.

So in my case, both things would be done from the heart - but only one made any sort of financial sense.

Do you know the reason why elex left? Maybe you should ask sidra or elex wife....... Econ was not the reason why elex left.......Or did he really leave...........

I noticed a few days ago when everyone got booted from the Barflies group. By the time I got in to check it out, the Elbow was gone.

Ironically, I'd been having so many problems with lag anywhere populated with my Mac Mini, I hadn't been back much recently, but now with my shiny new iMac Intel, I can actually go to a club and watch MST3K... And the only club I liked, and the only place that does MST3K, is gone.

I suspect a lot of it is the upcoming end of DI. It's still possible to really whore the tip jar and keep it profitable, but it's a lot harder and more time-consuming. Killing camping chairs is a noble motive, but it makes life difficult for people who do good stuff, too.

So is anyone going to take up the MST3K nights?

yes i understand Tier etc i own land, but i guess if i love a event and want it to thrive i hold it, where i do not give out money prizes it doesn't cost me anything to actually hold teh event except my time, but if it is a activity i wish to partake in, then i am not even out that.
