bad timing on LL's part
07-26-2006 10:42
I guess there is no good time to shut down SL for updates - but LL always does it so they never have to pay overtime... Seems they could resolve it before hand and not tie up EVERY Wednesday for three hours on US primetime. I know we have members from all over – but a rolling time would be preferable – rather than always taking time for players in one area… In fact – many SL residents overseas lose their best time to play – and that’s not fair either…

LL needs to reevaluate their update strategy!

*shrug* Installed for me.

(And for the record I did read the post. It was nigh-incomprehensible...)

then why are you still posting? ~.^

I AGREE!!! And as my friend Veh said earlier in the posts, if they need help with the patches, gather a few of the players... who actually have NORMAL computers... it'll help with the updates a great deal and won't hurt so many peoples game time, and possibly even cut down on the lag spikes.

Yuna try a PC that isn't from Dell and costs 600 USD$ thats about normal. Why 600$? This way no one is singled out. (and yes for 600$ you can have a somewhat decent computer)

And Matt I'm shocked you even say you are paying attention to this "riveting conversation" let us not forget how you first posted here.. since you didn't even read any post before typing .....

You're right...SecondLife is becoming more and more profit-centric at the unfortunate expense of purely creative endevours. Nobody is arguing against that. I just think you're ignoring the socioeconomic clout of the furry community at large, and bringing Goreans into the mix is a strawman at best, if understandably a tempting one. I too expected the end of dwell to mean the end of camping and dance pads, and was similarly dissapointed when that did not come to pass. Does that mean you should stop buying non-flexi hair? I don't think so, and that's my final word on the matter.

I built my own computer, but building one, also require money, that not many people have. I know I sure as hell didn't have the money to do it, but I also know what comes with a store bought computer, and I also know it wont' suit my purposes of use.

well if you look good and spent time you can find the parts cheaper then in some stores
building yah own is always cheaper then buy a full new one in store because the specs in stores are not that high most of the time and for the same Price you built a better bigger one your self

but some people don't have the knowledge to do so, hense store bought computers for the working class computer geeks. I have nothing against store bought computers, some of them come with REALLY good system grades. I know of some that come with over 100 gigs, and some pretty kick ass video cards for about 500-600 dollars.
