Hang on, Peter. We do use weapons. A weapon. You give them out to all new recruits, a regular pistol JUST LIKE THE POPGUN THAT YOU GET WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR SECOND LIFE.

Hint, hint!

*GASP* YES, you DO get a free weapon when you join! A weeeaaaapon. That can be used to shoooooot people. Are you getting what I'm saying?

Listen, Peter, and the rest of us good people in the "PD" are very sorry for your apparent shooting (Which I didn't see, so I dunno the details exactly except from your irritating point of view and Peter's slightly more compatent one) but as I have said, we can't screen people when they join. If they decide to go about shooting people, that's their business, and when we find out, we kick them out. "Organized Greifer Group" my ass. I'm not sure if you've ever read our notecards, where it defines what we do, et cetera, but no where in there does it encourage greifing. We REPORT it, for God's sake!

SL could do with less people who are completely intolerant of other people in the event they have any sort of valid point, like you lot, excepting Brace, although I figure you could be a little less vulgar.

SLPD is gone now, no going back. You people whining about 2 fuckheads who took their issued weapon and shot someone got our group's name changed, and now the group has fallen apart.

"Good" you'll say. Yeah, real fucking good. Next time, who ya gonna call when somebody shoots the shit out of you in Cordova? Try whining about it to the Lindens. "Write a report."

Face it, you've screwed yourselves out of the people (most of us) who were trying to help. Great God damned job.

Anytime.

I figured the SLPD was simply for RolePlay and would never have called on them anyway *shrugs* AR's and my own legal defense scripts work fine for me.

As to being "stupid"; LMAO. Like the opion of anyone other than those I care for matters to me. ^.^ Yes, I'm arrogant, egotistical, cocky, etc, etc, etc. Don't like my option, don't read it again. ^.~

But nothing I said changes *Shrugs* LL has the RIGHT to do as they did. If it's political, legal, or jsut plain being mean becasue they can, makes no differnce. They didn't delete your group, they simply changed your name. Don't like the change? Delete it,pay 100L$ and start a new one under a name you do like *shrugs*

And I had a security company before in SL so I know all about the regulations. That "popgun" issued in our Library inventory is still against the ToS to use on anyone not allowing you to.

Good luck on chillin' out and finding fun in SL again, Peter. And the rest of your group who was having fun. I sincerely hope you find it again. Even if the road turns, doesn't mean you have to stop driving.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

I saw no harm in the SLPD group, and have witnessed them in action in the WA. I thought the roleplaying was very good and consistant and it's kind of a fun idea. I don't think it's overly useful, because anyone has the ability to report a greifer, but as far as fun and atmosphere go, I'm all for it.

Any group might contain griefers. Individuals that grief should be AR'd no matter what groups they belong to.

I can understand how LL might be worried that the SLPD could be mistaken for an actual sanctioned group, but the same SHOULD be said for every other group that contains SL in it's name or tags.

I think folks are going way overboard in attacking what is basically a group of roleplayers having fun. If you find it geeky, don't get involved, but no need to attack others for what they enjoy doing. It just makes you petty and childish, and a bit mean.

As far as LL not having to be consistant, they sure don't. But that doesn't mean the shouldn't be, or that we shouldn't speak out if they aren't.

Face it, you've screwed yourselves out of the people (most of us) who were trying to help.

For many people such help is neither needed nor wanted; having more people jump into a dispute rarely leads to faster or better resolutions. I tend to believe that any anti-griefing group is only going to exacerbate the situations they involve themselves in.

Not only do more people teleporting in give griefers the attention they are seeking it also means there are more potentially short-tempered people in an already volatile situation. More who could get annoyed, more who could lash out in violation of the TOS and more of a chance that people not violating the TOS could be hit.

The only thing any anti-griefing group should do is pass out a notecard that tells people how to protect themselves:
  1. sit down
  2. mute people and objects
  3. turn off particles
  4. turn off audio
  5. ignore everything else

and for landowners you can add:
  1. turn off edit land
  2. turn on safe
  3. return objects by owner
  4. set a low autoreturn
  5. turn off outside scripts
  6. turn off create objects
  7. never share objects with a group with open enrollment

I hope you take TIME to read all of the posts and THEN reply to this one HONESTLY and actually think about it before you do so.

I've read them all. I still am glad SL took a step towards removing a greifing group.

edit: don't say I'm not answering honestly because I -am-
