Willows post solved 2 of SL's great mysteries... What's wrong with the Database Server? and What's sustaining the SL economy? Another useful tip when dealing with your inventory... Right Click.. Delete.. Empty Trash.

Another useful tip when dealing with your inventory... Right Click.. Delete.. Empty Trash. HEY! I box! I swear! and i'm in the process of relieving the asshat server of many of my goodies and GOOD tip, I keep my trash empty, empty it prolly 10 times a day lol after sifting through my inventory. But thanks Vanilla I hope it helped a few of you!

47,000 objects in her inventory, including a ton boxed up! Now, nothing against Willow herself but goddam, that's absolutely ridiculous. I thought I was bad with just over 4000 after nearly 2 1/2 years.
Seriously 47,000 isn't good, not for organising and not for SL as a whole. If people keep that much stuff in their inventories then there really needs to be a charge for excess inventory size. Willow's inventory is basically worth 11 or 12 Moopf Murray inventories in terms of size - I'd say that was excessive for the asset server to have to deal with. Oh yeah, and none of mine is boxed up in the way that Willow does it, so I hate to think how many individual items Willow's actual inventory is.
I wonder how many others have tens of thousands of objects in their inventories?

Well, bear in mind I have like all elikas hair, thats gotta be close to 100 styles 70 in each roughly? some doubled cos of new textures... Panache hair, almost all styles in every colour you're looking into the triple figures there at least, then not to mention all the other hair designers >.> then you count my skin collection, over 3100 skins... all adds up after 2 years of hoarding >.> lol. But I AM SORTING IT OUT!, I really should empty my lost and found lol, infact, jeebus how DID I get all those objects, its gotta be clothing, hairs and skins cos I don't OWN a lot of objects! Oh well *trundles on with deletion project* I actually put my textures and snapshots in an organizer (well several) last night and that clipped about 4000 off my total Now to jus sort thru those! I'M DOING IT! Blimey! lol Moopf is right tho, its really not good, and I regret not fixing it sooner, but I made my start, now I just have to finish it! Maybe you can see my article as how not to hoarde stuff then you won't need to sort it (Oh and I agree with the charging for larger inventories Moopf! Totally)

I had about 32k, but I accidentally (yes, I keep things that I actually need in my trash, don't ask) emptied the trash, so now I have 25k. I bet if I went through my lost and found I could cut back another 5k.

I have usually between 12 and 13k, and try to keep it there, or lower. But bear in mind, I do mainly houses, and one doesn't tend to create just hundreds of those. I get rid of all their earlier incarnations and parts once I'm sure I don't need them anymore. The rest of my (beautifully organized) inventory consists of SCADS of textures, my extensive freebie collection, and a few sentimental objects. One of these days I will probably eliminate most of my freebie collection, but it is just so neat to always have anything anybody could ever be needing, lol. But one day I might just bite the bullet and do it. coco

I posted this to willow as a thank you not so everyone could bash her. She knows she has her own hoarding issues But dont we all? I have been here almost two years and I am not about to part with my hair * addiction issues yes indeed*, shoes* got to have great shoes*, and many of my outfits. I have over 22k in items and I toss out a little every day as I organize. I am a host, and I love to give out prizes when I do. I keep a lot of inventory that are prizes and things donated to me to give as prizes. What about people who make things and sell things? They need all that kind of thing in inventory as well. Boxing is a great idea :0) Cant we store the boxes in world? They would be 1 prim boxes for all intent and purposes less opened right? Lets stop bashing someone who wrote a terrific article for helping us getting our butts in gear on inventory. She has a lot of stuff for the job she has. She is working on it, that should count for something peoples If you want to rant about inventory amounts make a new thread

Hahaha, I agree with you there! It's fun when someone needs something, and no matter what it is, you have it.

Thank GAWD it's not just me! I don't feel as bad now, anyhoooo, just boxed a ton more furn/stuffs up! Deleted my calling cards, textures, scripts (I had over 500 of them and I dunno wtf they do!), sounds, gestures blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda, I found a folder with really OLD clothes in that I totally just deleted, but then I borked my trash can and had to purge them all by hand... >: ( and i'm not half done, but i've been at it for two hours and i'm down to a tidier just above 39k... getting there

Willow knows I wasn't bashing her, but tends of thousands of inventory items is excessive, there's no two ways about that. Unfortuantely with unlimited inventories it's far too easy to do. I am tempted to make a poll to see what most people's inventory level is though

To be honest, I'm really suprised that even the few who've replied on this thread have tens of thousands - it would be good to see what's the average level. Then I might have to bloat my own inventory out a bit

I think I read somewhere that a lot of residents deleting inventory at around the same time is actually more work for the Central Asset Server (All Hail the Central Asset Server!) than just keeping it and deleting a little bit at a time. Pretty sure I heard this that time there was a huge push in 1.6.x to have everyone clean out their inventories because someone believed it was causing problems with the update. There was some sort of warning that emptying the trash of all those items at the same time could cause a major f*up with the asset server? Can anyone confirm or deny this before I get to work on the 25k items in my invy? (/me wishes for a thing that would delete duplicate items, unless they are named "object" )
