i am just a huge fan of critical thought, but I am loud and oppinionated as well. sometimes Mulch is a character in cyberspace, sometimes it is Mulch speaking for me. I don't put on or take off a costume, so figuring out just who I am atm may actually be the fun of a mulch post

and this is the only redacted thread today. i did carry the joke to another thread, but with a seriously different tone

i also had a post where i didn't say anything that could get anything locked and was intentionally vague, but I shouldn't have to jump through these hoops to communicate with people

if i do anything too subversive it may be missed entirely

its a fine line to balance so that only some poeple get the message, but i prefer to do it out of choice rather than neccesity

thats not the only one, just a recent example

and i don't feel i am particularly clever, but again, it is just a shame i have to use those methods to communicate in an area where impeach bush is supported as free speech

Mulch, I've said this allready in another thread today but it bears repeating: I believe it's better and more constructive to post about problems openly, not in subversive "joke threads". As long as you're following the posted rules (particaurly regarding personal attacks, right forum for the right reason, etc), you're encouraged, even invited to do so.

It's my personal belief (with no ResMod authorty or rule backing it) that a lot of the joke threads hurt the atmosphere of the forums rather than help.

I agree that humor and satire can be excelent tools for doing what you describe...Torley used humor to good effect in this thread, of course. But in the case of these forums, there's often someone or some group or someone else's post that's (explicitly or not) the butt of the joke, and that's where the humor can turn nasty.

Having discuessed this with others outside the forums though, I know my opinion isn't a popular one.
