Prolly a bit late seeing how all the Gor threads are long dead, but here's something I spotted in the news this morning. It's the pebble-dash terraced house that really does it for me. Note the line of toilet-cleaner bottles neatly lined up on the bathroom window ledge. That must be such a come-down for them from their fantasies.

Only 25000 Goreans worldwide? Where's the 4 that's not in SL?

The two articles contradict each other there... the first says '25000 British followers' while the second says '25000 followers world-wide'.

All I gotta say is, I'm with the butcher.

I'm actually working on an alternate fiction short story right now , where the John Norman books have become a worldwide cult instead of Hubbard's Scientology.

Now it seems I have to include Darlington in a location.

OMG It's the PG Goreans!

This week:

"Dad, I have to tell you something. It's just... I get these really ill feelings when I see mom acting as a sexual toy when my friends come over."

"Son, it's our way."

"It wouldn't be so bad but come on, her body is starting to need some support. You aren't both young and beautiful any more! She dressed so slutty the other day, she scared the neighbour's dog..."

Comments regarding this story in other places I've seen mostly say: "well there's bugger all else to do in Darlington".

It wasn't even a very good scandal in the first place - the police turned up and found no evidence of any crime. However, the bit at the end of the Guardian article, about the guy having been banned from the local butcher's for bringing his slave in on a leash, is brilliant. It's like something Alan Bennett would have written.

toliet-bowl cleaners?

this makes me wonder, does one get one's slaves to do housework, too?

Apparantly one does. In fact, it appears that if one is in Second Life, on occasion one asks people to script items that need "housework" done (like windows that get dirty) in order that one can give their slaves housework to do.

Yup, that's one of the core tenants; slaves (women) do all the menial work. Cooking, cleaning, etc.

It's like the 1950s without the bright hope for the future.

See, now you're really starting to grasp the importance of 3D, virtual worlds. In Second Life, your sex doll never sags.

New Gorean world?
05-19-2006 10:08
I sometimes think that all of Second Life will become a big Gorean playground :( Exploring is becoming more and more of a problem day by day. These security scripts are getting out of hand! I lost control of my house yesterday while moving it to a new location and discovered a person near me has one of them set for alarm. I was able to retrieve my house. I returned the favor and banned him from my land as well, sigh..........

Bought a new aircraft from the cat flyer. Flying with a mouse sucks! On the way back to my land I overshot and was turning back when the aircraft was firmly planted in the ground and was 340km in the ground before giving up recovering and logging off. I don’t know it was a push attack of a problem between Sims. Probably was an orbital push attack and I was caught on the wrong side of it.

If you take away all of what we have lost it seems like sex is one of the few things left. That is where the Goreans enter the picture

Not all Gorean slaves are female, in fact the males slaves are treated worse than the females.

That being siad, if someone -was- truly forcing someone into the lifestyle, I hope they get tortured to death. WILLING submission is one thing. FORCED submission is another.

I've been looking into the Goreans stuff in SL and on the web, it's interesting, there are lots of layers of people and meanings to it. Human being are strange creatures for sure.

I have casually tried to google the source for this but can't find it...

...something like 100 years ago, a fairly well known madame of a brothel wrote a book.

In that book, she detailed her keen observations about men - she had known many over the decades. If anyone can remember exactly her name, please post - I can't recall. I'd heard about all this from a female friend in years past.

To paraphrase what men often sought at the brothel as best I can:

- Men that had great power in their lives had a tendency to simply want to relax in the bedroom; let others make the choices, and free themselves from bother.

- Men who had little to no control in their public lives sought power over others fiercely: especially in the bedroom, especially from women.

I've never run a brothel - but as best I can tell from watching my fellow man - it seems to me that the madame was right.

For what it's worth, Edgar Rice Burroughs > John Norman. :p

I never really doubted it. But since I got into second life, I discovered we are stranger than I expected...

The only fantasy author I can think of *worse* than John Norman is Piers Anthony.

I could not believe it when I opened up my newspaper and saw the blanked out face of a chubby middle aged women wearing the silks and jangly gold coin type bits, in that Gor submissive pose! Avatars are wonderful!
