Whats going on ? Are you aware of this problem ?
It's getting worse daily since about a week ago....
Periodic disconnection and then all the secondlife / LL domains are unavailable for a while ...
is it a new bug ? an attack ?
whatever, I can't tell you how frustrating it is not to be able to stay logged on for more than a hour or so
( or less recently )

The network problems of the last 24 hours are due to problems in Internet routing well beyond our control. One of the Internet backbone routers that serves our internet service provider seems to be having intermitent failures. Our service provider has had to stop routing through it, and cause that traffic to be routed through its other backbone connections (it has several).

Unfortunately, when routing changes among Internet backbones, it often causes hours of problems as the routing information settles between the different interconnect centers. That they've had to disconnect and reconnect serveral times in a short period probably hasn't made matters any easier.

Depending on how your Internet service provider connects to the Internet, your connection to the Second Life grid may, or may not be affected by this particular issue. Furthermore, your ability to connect to other services may or may not expereince problems depending on how the ISPs choose to route between them.

Alas, there is little that we, or our service provider can do until either the affected router is diagnosed by the backbone company, or the routing around them settles on the Internet. Our service provider is keeping us (and all their customers) aprised of the situation as it unfolds. If any new information surfaces, I'll try to translate the deep-geek speak to a status for you.
