These two blog entries previously allowed comments but now they are turned off with NO linden explanation why. All the other entries made yesterday are set at no comments.

What is the purpose of a blog if you don't allow comments?

Skip the blog and just have an announcement website since that seems to be what you want, but do us a favor and re-open the forums you closed since you are not keeping your end of the bargain and providing 2 way communication through the blogs!
Otherwise please adopt a policy to allow comments for EVERY blog entry!

I'd really like someone at LL to dig deep and give us the REAL reason that blog comments are closed? A little honesty would go a long way!

Sure! It can vary from entry to entry -- I agree if comments are closed, explaining WHY in the post is helpful.

Generally, comments have been closed if we believe we've gotten enough info on a given topic to learn from for the time being, and a followup post is made. Daniel's CopyBot post being one such example.

Each post is different, and by far and large, we've allowed comments on the vast majority of them.

As I mentioned to you earlier, investigation into better discussion options continues.
