Why don't we use this forum as a place to hold intelligent mature discussions about how to actually improve the nature of SL and all in world business so that maybe it will promote seom growth for all rather than try to reinstate an old show that made a point of creating illusions to scare ppl....what was the name of that show dangit.....anyway....Novel idea using this forum for constructive purposes isn't it? Are ye skeered yet? Well you shouldn't be.....etc etc.LOL

It's really a shame. The economy is such a fascinating part of this game and yet this forum is so useless because of the trolls.

I agree... If we could just get rid of Jopsy, Jon, Kat, and a
few others, we could have an intelligent discussion about the
economy... Damn those Trolls...

The economy aspect is only 'fascinating' if you want to play it that way, at the expense of fun and other players.

For most people it's an unwelcome intrustion and a barrier to our proper enjoyment of the freedom that SL offers.

Soup? You'd probably just set a bowl of muddy water in the sun ( since heating it drives up overhead) Drop in some worms and lizards you caught from the swamps and tell me it's CHicken Noodle soup , Chicken Little.LOL

Seriously RBD, the scare tactics are getting tiring. I say we start talking like adults, and come up with ideas to stimulate things in world, tehreby getting the consumption rate up adn stimulatiing the economy constructively, rather than screaming falsehoods. Some real ideas would be nice for a change. Tell the new folks how to run a successful business using legitimate means.

If you want to get techincal about it, it's not even really a game. It's a 3D interactive chat, and platform allowing RT creation of 3D content to the users. SL has some real possibilities. So let's stop sreaming out to scare people and be constructive. Shoot some ideas, positive ones back and forth. I agree it does take some concious thought to do so however the conversation would be much more stimulating and intelligent

Hi Dmitri

I agree 100%. The forums should be a place where we can work together to make Second Life a better place to be. I for one would love to see it become a place where constructive suggestions (Real Ones) get discussed and in the short or long term are a benefit to the residents. There have been numerous threads about jobs in SL. I have an idea on how to boost more jobs in SL (Don't want to give it away just yet), however, I would love to have suggestions on what kind of jobs are out there for the residents. Would like to hear from all the prospective employers. What kinds of jobs do they have to offer. What qualification are they looking for. I would like to hear from the residents as to what they have to offer to SL and to the employers (Do they know scripting, Photo Shop, GMIP, etc) Once I can get this information I can put my idea to work and I hope for the betterment of SL. Let's keep this thread going...Let's work together to make SL the best ever platform for everyone regardless what they are here for, gaming, making lindens, or just having fun.

Ok Job ideas...there are already plenty of club jobs out there but the downside is most of them do't pay ppl. we need an increase in paying jobs so....how about increasing the base of builders to stimulate development by some of the higher dollar and busier builders starting to hire apprentices? Paid ones who will learn from them. Also this idea would work for all forms of creation. Add new blood you add new ideas thereby stimulating faster growth within the more techincal aspects. Plus it has the added benefit of actually rewarding the apprentices thorugh L's and a sense of achievement thereby improving Moral of the population in general. Also more people with L's means more buying adn since humans tend to overspend thier lifestyle I am sure it would in the long run bring an increase in L sales and drive demand for L's up. It would also free up some time for busy builders and content creators. And what do people do when they have more time? Shop, explore, go dance and have fun...all three of which activities tend to lead to spending more L's within SL.

Dmitri - I think this forum has sunk into madness because:

1. The majority of posters have run out of useful things to say. Once you have said things a few times, for most, you decide not to try and explain yourself again.

2. Nothing gets resolved.

3. Posters have little power to do anything to actively change things except whinge.

4. So it ends up that all you have left is the sniping.

Come for the intelligent economic discussion, but stay for the back-biting!

BTW - baiting RBD in your own "let's have some intelligent conversation" thread seems a bit couter-intuitive.

Woot! I made top billing on RBD's annoying people list. That's a glowing endorsement! :)
(give that guy some soup after his nap!)

Anyway... the best way to have a lively thread (as RBD has so often shown us) is to say something flagrantly incorrect, narrow-minded or just simply unpopular. Say something folks sorta agree with and most folks seem content to just let it sit unsupported or contested. (most folks mind you... some will always tilt at windmills. ;)

ANYWAY ... to try to add something constructive to this thread, I've been thinking about the employment/business opportunities and have a suggestion... that I like, but not enough to put into practice personally. (It WOULD be work, and require multiple people to bring it together).

What SL desperately needs is some sort of independently run Zagat Survey... or Better Business Bureau. A group of people that get out there, compare, categorize, rate and publish what they find in SL more objectively than the people marketing their own goods and services.

Once enough credibility in the organization is established, it would make sense for businesses to contribute towards it, particularly if they're favorably mentioned. (Yes there's the risk of corruption but at the loss of credibility).

Such an effort would require someone to set up the reporting/query/publishing mechanism, someone to edit/proofread, agents to survey and cross-check each other, someone to solicit/track/manage sponsorship, someone to co-ordinate everyone else...

Seeing as how 'ratings' and 'dwell' have been gamed into oblivion.... something like this, done well, could have significant value within SecondLife.

Actually it is a game Dmitiri, some just use it as a platform. But then, I agree to disagree. Call it what you will.
