I'm not making threats, nor would I be going anywhere. I said I would consider downgrading to basic. I can still make my things and sell them. The shop is a wonderful thing to have, but I don't have to have it.

And yes, I know that people can come into a whole new thing and adjust. But in my opinion, removing the stipends have a severely negative impact on the growth rate, which right now is one of the best things SL has going for it (and for its investors), and would cause considerable tiering down to basic by premiums (which wouldn't be good for LL).

If you don't care if people leave because of removing the stipends, and if you don't care if people leave because of the economic collapse that you predict will happen if the stipends aren't removed, then I believe I am correct in concluding that you don't care if people leave, period.

If you don't care about people leaving LL, or, I assume, people continuing to pay tier to LL, then I must conclude that what you care about is cashing out your Lindens for the most dollars.

Here is what LL should do.. Decrease the Stipends by 10% per month.
A few months down the road and you won't even miss those stipends.
No need for shock and awl.. A nice slow reduction will do the trick.

You are confused.. I've never once mentioned anything
about people leaving SL because of decline in the L$...
I've been talking about the economic collapse if changes
aren't made..

Ah, I understand now! So if there aren't any changes made, they'll be an "economic collapse" - but one which doesn't actually involve anything bad happening :)

No... Bad things will happen. But that doesn't mean there will
a mass exit from SL.. It will mean that US$ investment will
be lost by people who bought goods/services to only have
it vaporized by a falling Linden Dollar due to poor Policy by
the Government (ie: Linden Labs).

I don't think that's so likely.

I read another post you made about rising land prices, and it made me think thus-ish: Effectively for each player, there's a "L$ threshold", which is the largest thing they'd buy using just L$. Above that threshold, they have to buy L$ for US$ to pay with. People like Anshe probably have no threshold at all, and newbies have a very low threshold.

The interesting thing is that a player doesn't care about L$ inflation for items above their threshold. If a player's threshold is lower than L$10000, that means they'd have to buy L$ for US$ to buy something costing L$10000. Suppose that buying L$10000 would cost them US$40. Then the L$ goes down so that L$10000 is worth only US$20, so the price of the item goes up to L$20000 - the user doesn't really care; they would have been buying the land indirectly for US$40 before and they are still doing so now.

I would be more than willing to give up my stipend if
if you are truly concerned and principled, you'd just do it.

Sure, I'll give mine up, now who else is willing to do so to the extent that it will strengthen the linden and promote a healthier SL for everyone?
your sense that the l$ is unhealthy and weak is not shared by everyone. why do you insist that everyone do something based on your opinion?
