Marc Woebegone, whose account remains "on hold" as a result of the auction debacle, asked me to tell all who are interested that if / when his account is reinstated to active, that he will be offering many parcles in HODU for free to those that are of fair and objective character. All he's asking is that you save your poritions of various parts of these threads and he will review them in deciding who he will be gifting the land to. Also, he wanted to be sure you knew that sim he paid somwhere between $1,200 and $1,500 US for. He says he knows he didn't do anything wrong; he's doing this because he recognizes its hard to stand up for what you believe in the face of adversity, cynicism, immaturity and general injustice and he wants to reward those for having some integrity and sense of self.
Keep an eye out for it and save your portions of the thread.
Peace to everyone.

Peace to everyone. This thread belongs to Classifieds. If there is no forum named "bribes". Well, you will never be able to buy me. BTW why LL havent posted any comment about this auction fraud? What happened to the second buyers of these lands? They gave back the lands(i saw in world, some still keeps these sims)? What happened to the tiers they have paid? LL refunded the tiers but these guys still have these tiers for free? How this mistake happened? What changed in last 2-3 months about the auction system?.How big is the rest of iceberg? Oh sorry i forgot, this is not my business anymore. The only thing i wonder is LL prefers this mistake(i hope it was only a mistake) to be forgotten? Whatever, i have my last 2 sims tier on this land business thing. Hopefully i will sell my last 2 sims today(4/sqm). And my tier will be 0 instead of 7-10 after this month. So yes, it is not my problem anymore. Forget what i typed above.

This is the only official response I've seen. Nothing changed. It's always been possible to lift the auction ID from a parcel and paste it into the address bar to see the page before there is a link on the auction site. It's always been possible to bid and start the auction this way before there is a link on the auction site. What's different about this particular situation? This hole will likely be closed so the end result will be that residents have no auction preview ability but will have to wait until the links appear on the page. It's too bad when public features have to be eliminated. We offer public Internet access in our library. I've recently had to just lock out most of our academic gateway's ports because ninety-nine percent of the Library traffic was generated by people using Morpheus and consuming all of our bandwidth.

Okay well this is totally strange. Anybody else see two duplicate posts? There is one difference; can you spot it? Hey this is like that little game with the comic pictures in the back of kids' magazines ha ha ha.

Not the first time i've heard about this
05-07-2006 08:11
To Marc Woebegone, your not alone in that boat, I’ve heard of several ppl in SL that this has happened to, one is a close relative of mine, she bought on auction, was confirmed, then it was awarded to someone else, all due to this lame excuse " your US currency, could not be changed to Linden fast enough, to win the auction, and hence the land was awarded to the next party in the bidding". So what i see is LL can manipulate transactions to their own benefit, and as i've said it many times before, it must be nice to be GOD in your own world, but that leaves this to be said, a swindle is a swindle, and as they ruin their own reputation and integrity, the less they will have investors confident enough to spend real cash here. I see land investment as still a "good ol boy" Land Barron’s groups that seems to always get preferential treatment, and i'm not so sure LL employees aren't in those groups as alts, bringing up another question of inside trading information. If LL continues such questionable practices, of which none of us can prove, it just looks shady, be it on them if either (A) some kind of regulatory agency gets involved, and or (B) they are shut down if not by such agencies or themselves, to prevent any type of punitive action from such agencies. The fact that Marc's membership is on hold, speaks volumes to me, its downright scary to be blunt, he can't even make a move to either defend himself, or take his assets and run like hell.

This is a completely different situation, next bidder buys it for what he/she bid(always above 1000 for sims),If the actual winner doesnt pay for it at time. And your friend didnt pay for the sim so the next bidder bought it. It is your friend's fault. So you misunderstood Marc's situation.Because he collected unstarted auctions for $1-$300(or something.) It is completely different. Yah know... until you tried to buy public opinion I thought there might be a chance a linden spoke authoritatively when he didn't actually have any info. But if you were in the right you wouldn't need to buy public opinion.

Marc's not trying to buy public opinion
05-07-2006 11:03
The threads had been written before he communicated his offer of free land in the HoDu Sim. Those writing the threads prior to the offer didn't know what he was going to offer now weeks after his suspension.
Also, given how threads sometimes "disappear"; he's hoping to have a chance to preserve what's been said.

But fortunately she paid $25 for all of unpaid auctions. Well, i couldnt see the connection between this and Identity Protected guy Whatever, I think this 1to1 conversation is keeping the forum busy, so i wont type anymore. Maybe Identity Protected can answer you

What if I win an auction but realize I've made a mistake? Please send an email to land@secondlife.com with all auction questions. If you are unable or unwilling to pay for land bought in an auction, then you will be charged a restocking fee of US$25 (L$6000 for $L auctions). Please note that multiple auction bid cancellations may result in a loss of bidding status.
note that last line
Please note that multiple auction bid cancellations may result in a loss of bidding status. now 9 of 13 hmmm ya thats multiple
