I'm looking on the land sales map for places that look interesting. I see a white highlighted area on the map, fly to it - and it's something someone's put up for L$999999999. Can't this be stopped? It's a rather irritating practice and wastes mine and everyone else's time.

I know alot of people used to do that because they just wanted people to make an offer because there is no option for "make me a offer" they just do that so people see that they want to sell it but the price is negotiable. And then again yes sometimes it is used by people just clicking buttons.

Perhaps a filter to only show land that is for sale within a certain price range. Or barring that, how about just having the price display when you hover the mouse over the plot of land on the map?

Maybe these should be (or already have been) posted in the feature suggestions.

There are other ways for you to look for land which will negate this. Look in find.

I almost always set land I own to sell to myself and L$50000 or some such number, just as a semi-security measure, in case I click a wrong button or something.
And, considering someone bought 240m2 for $151 (US not Linden) recently, who knows, it might be worth it to leave it for sale just in case someone comes along with daddy's card... err comes along and wants it real bad.

Hahahaha! Good point, Upshaw! I also have the $9999999 set in the little field, just in case a bug or something sets my land to a 'for sale' state.

The problem with your guys... uh... security measures.... is that you render THE most useful land tool useless. To some people, location, rather than price, is the issue, believe it or not. It's really a pain to go out to a nice lookin' plot and see some pipedream of a price on it. If you want someone to make you an offer, try setting the price a little closer to reality. When I see a piece of land for sale for a buncha nines, I just move on and make a mental note about the landowner. I imagine those people are trying to take advantage of misclicks or noobs. So it's really not a good note. So much for first impressions.

Ah, but the land doesn't show as FOR SALE when you take that step - unless you push a wrong button or get hit by a bug - which has happened to me - and the land goes on its own to a FOR SALE state.

either they're a moron and there is no cure so they should be pitied, or they did it in case they accidently set the land for sale and now they accidentally set the land for sale and don't know it.

it's easier using the land-for-sale finder sorted by price and size than flying around to white spots and hoping anyway.

if people are setting up 999999 to protect themselves, they can punch in the number and not select the sell box. then in case they hit the sell box by accidetn fine. otherwise, save us some hassle.

herein i will be triple negrating anyone that dupes me with their 999999999 land sale.

Of course, what we really need is a search tool that lets us sort the land for sale by location.

Of course, what we really need is a search tool that lets us sort the land for sale by location.

When you are in the land for sale tab you can put the amount of money you are willing to spend the amount of meters you are looking for and hit search. After you get the huge list of plots for sale you can go to one of the lower tabs that look like titiles of that colume. Name for example; click it and it will list them in alphabetical order. Or the price then it will group all plots for sale that came up in order of amount.

That's also my case. Sorry if it's annoying, but I read here on the forums once that that's a sort-of-good security measure..

For security, if the land is set to sell to yourself, as in, you are the only person that can buy it, the price can be L$0, as in zero.

I guess some set a high price thinking that if anyone is dumb enough to pay that much, then they will sell it. But, the price is unreasonable, think about how many people have L$999,999, maybe five people and they arent dumb enough to spend their money that way. If you really want to set your land up for negotiations, make a reasonable starting price and put "make offer" in the description. If you think your just going to make some easy money on a land deal and/or you dont really want to sell your place anyway, dont list it for sale.

I'm only bitchin' if it shows up on the map. But I really wish people would not set their land to 'for sale' unless they are serious about selling it. No one is accidentally going to pay 100000 for land. And they -really- aren't going to pay 99999999999.

I don't believe there is any bug setting land to for-sale, just to have thrown that out there. That would be a hypercritical problem and we'd hear a lot more about it than we do.

Yeah, but that only works if people KNOW that's what it means. For instance, I just always thought they were dumbasses

I've fixed the issue on my parcel

So my humble little plot won't wreck havok anymore on search tabs. I wasn't trying to fool anyone into accidentally buying the plot. I mean.. who has 999,999,999 L's anyways? As I said, it was a protective measure suggested on these forums. But if it was so bad.. I agree on taking on other measures.

Thanks :)

The main issue is it appearing highlighted as white (ie. for sale) on the map when that tab is selected. The price is only revealed when one actually visits the plot.

There used to be, and there probably will be again.

I have my plot set both to 9999999999 and set to only sell to myself. The sale checkbox is not marked, but on the off chance that it ever is, I'll still have two levels of protection.
