this game is unfair

I wish they would have actually explained the 1st land feature because i bought some of it and sold it not knowing i couldnt get the cheap of land again and now i cant get squat because of that stupid rule i hate this so i have to decided to quit this stupid game because it is almost impossible to buy any land with out being a member for months

well, maybe you should read the faq's and ask other people if you need help with anything. We dont really care that you think this game is stupid. if you want to get more land, just get some money and buy it.

did you think you could just buy cheap land, raise the price and sell it and repeat? the First Land program is there to help people like you get land when they're starting out but it's a one time offer. sorry if you abused it. if you made an uninformed decision it doesn't make either the rule or the game stupid.

I know it isn't much help, but at least you were lucky enough to be able to pick the First Land that you wanted. That wasn't always the case. I was in the last group that went through the Land for the Landless program that existed before First Land. Under that program, you could request PG or M, but you had no choice in which sim or where your land would actually be.

As others suggested, you can always convert US$ to L$ and buy land that way. Land itself isn't that expensive in small quantities. Haven't looked at the exchange rates recently, but at $4/m2 a 512m2 lot is around L$2000 which is something like US$8.

You could also sign up for another account. Keep your current account premium for a month and then convert to basic (so that you get the weekly stipend for your month's subscription).

At the same time, sign up for another account. Be sure to pick up the referral in the process. That could be worth up to L$2000 by itself. Just make sure that your alt goes straight to Premium. The referral only gets you L$1000 if it goes basic and then premium.

Then, use your second account to buy another piece of First Land using the referral money and stipends from two accounts during the month of overlap.

So, in general, all is not lost.

One of the best things a player can do is thoroughly read the faq before rushing out to get that first land. It's worth the time to do a little research first.

I think it's far more important to graduate from elementary school before posting completely unpunctuated tirades on a public forum. That path leads to ridicule and embarrassing quotes.

Well they should have closed that loophole ages ago... No doubt now there'll be an uprising against older players who are suspected (without proof of course) of referring their alts. But of course, since over 80% of the peaople in SL are alts...

When you buy your first land, a box appears explicitly stating that this will be the only chance you have to buy First Land at this price. No sympathy if you can't be arsed to read what's given to you ...

I agree with Luigi that not enough is explained about this first-land feature and the irreversibility of it. Luigi hasn't "abused" his first-land privilege if he turns around and resells it to get game money -- that is a widespread and normal practice.

If this happens to a customer, the company has to think if they have explained the game properly or not. It's not worth it losing the customers. But apparently they prefer to rely on a system of oldsters who beat up and shame newbies in a forum, outsourcing their customer service problem to the forum harpies.

Yup yup! Just like Charlotte said. If you had read and paid attention to the little pop up box when you decided to purchase your FIRST Land, you would not be throwing the tantrum that most 12 year olds do when they screw up. LOL

What do you mean it's not explained? read what other people, new and old have said... you have to click on a pop up that tells you!!! sheesh... is this like people who get windows error messages saying "this web site (insert random obviously malicious url here) would like to install software on your pc, press OK to allow, or cancel not to", then they click ok, and scream and moan about viruses???

I would say some people grasp this risk -- I know I do -- but they DO remain confused about tier and about whether they can do this AGAIN. Having wrestled with this system myself and having a college education, I found it confusing and the people I've brought into the game from TSO also have remained confused and even fearful about buying land at all. The entrance ramp to this game is a steep one, and those that mastered this first step seem all too happy to stand near the doorway and sneer at newbies tripping over the threshold.

Sure, it's fairly easy to see that you will only get the First Land at this price $512 ONCE -- but what is LESS CLEAR and even NOT EXPLAINED I would venture to say, is that you can only purchase a set-aside First-Land plot like that ONCE for ANY PRICE. That is, you can still be confused and thing "OK, I don't get to spend $512 like this but I can spend more and still get one of these Linden First-Lands." Yes, that DOES happen.

This is ESPECIALLY confusing because many people who buy their first-land plots and resell them never bother to take the description FIRST LAND off the plot. So it sits there with a price tag of $3750 saying FIRST LAND ready to mislead the first newbie who comes along and uses up his First-Land privilege and spends $3750 on recycled First Land, not on true first land. Go and look at the Find list for Land Sales and you'll see the authentic Linden First Land plots and then all the fake First Land resales.

But surely, it's not the Lindens' responsibility to change what people call their land?
If I were to sell you land at L$10 per m2 and call it First Land... I'd be the one commiting fraud, not the Lindens. If you see someone doing this, feel free to neg-rate their behaviour, or abuse report them... but don't blame someone who's fault it isn't.
