No more First Lands?

I recently went premium and when I looked for First Land, it resulted with "None found". Am I doing something wrong, or has the allotment of First Land truly run out?

So, then, how often do new ones come up (i.e., how long should I be waiting)? Thanks.

Here are some links to recent threads pertaining to First Land:

/130/fa/88067/1.html
/130/38/87256/1.html

In addition to the advice to search on "First Land", you can search on 512 square meters or $512 in Find. First Lands are released in batches and scooped up fairly quickly so be persistent in checking for one. Good luck. :)

Best I can tell you is check like every 2 hours or so. I really don't remember the frequency that they open up new land. Honestly...it could be a few times a day...or it could be once a week. Just don't give up cause you'll find one sometime soon.

That's just land barons scooping up the first lands. Nothing new. I'm convinced that the reason there are so many new accounts created is because a few land barons need dozens of alts available for whenever new land (especially waterfront) goes on the market.

I've been having the same problem - no First Lands for the last two days now. I tried the in-game help, and got an answer from a Linden. They're expecting that there will be more first land in a few days, probably early next week.

While I'm not entirely happy about this - the only reason I upgraded from Basic to Premium was to get a little land to try some things out on - if it's a known problem, and temporary, I can live with it.

Yeah, I just upgraded to a premium account and have been a bit annoyed at the complete lack of First Land available during the last few days. You'd think they'd have a few plots all the time if they're going to push the fact the First Land exists to sell accounts.

Sadly, what happens is that existing members use their alts to buy first land at a ridiculous discount and then transfer that land back to the main account. It's pretty inconsiderate of new users, though. :(

Sorry you'll have to wait a bit to get your parcel. I know it can be exciting to get that first plot of your own land.

I'm a newbie and became interested in land buying when my neighbors started moving out because of all the junk that was going up in the neighborhood. I was hoping to try to do something about it, but I will admit I've been sucked into the monetary aspect of it, so may be on my way to being a land baroness myself. (I don't know if that's good or bad, but I am trying to be fair in dealing with people.)

That being said, I think it would be a whole lot better if First Land could not be sold off for a certain period of time. (45-90 days? Maybe more even, since it's so cheap -- just about a week's stipend.) That might encourage actual communities to build up before all the vultures descend. Had that been the case, I probably would be spending my time exploring other areas of SL with my neighbors rather than doing land deals, since they all felt forced out.

Actually, I came in kind of cold and, in retrospect, should probably have spent more time exploring before purchasing my initial plot, possibly renting. It's all very overwhelming at the outset, so that seemed like an easy start. *laughs* (And I couldn't even select the option for a greeter when I first signed up -- it said that I had already passed that point, even though it was the first time I saw that question. Hopefully that bug is fixed on the web site.) I was eager to get into SL, not spend a lot of time learning about it.... And I didn't realize I couldn't return to Help Island(?). Maybe it would also be better to allow new players to return there for a limited time?

OK, I've completely wandered off topic, so I'll stop here.

Putting a resale timer on the land will just mean it sits unused for 45-90 days before getting transferred to the main.

Also, it would be unfair to new residents that decide they don't like owning land afterall and get stuck with it (and the tier payments) for more than 1 month.

I don't know about that -- it seems like they have similar restrictions in place for the test communities they developed. And it sounds like real communities built up there. But in fairness, perhaps the idea of restricted and unrestricted First Land would satisfy both requirements?

Edited to add: Oh, and there are no tier payments on the first 512 sqm. of land, which is not coincidentally the size of the First Land plots. However, yes it does require one to maintain a premium membership. A 30-day limit might cover this, then. Maybe even 21. But I still don't see a problem with a longer period. I would have been happy to have it myself, especially as I plan on keeping the premium membership -- I went straight for the one-year, as it pays for itself in L$.

I don't know about that, really.

I got my First Land(s) in Rosieri, and that has turned out to be a really pretty good and NOT junked up sim, and it was all First Land to begin with!
