I was just wondering around and ran into these nine sims to the north of the old contient. It's a nice residental suburban nieghborhood full of houses. The houses seem to be all occupied by new residents. Does anyone know what this is about?

They are pretty busy already - new players settling in and existing players checking it out.

This is really fascinating. I was there for a couple of hours last night. 9 sims suddenly populated by residents who have just entered SL. I had a tag over my name which must have suggested that I knew something or other (lol) because one guy ran up to me and said "I lost my house". He looked like he was going to cry. There was a house floating about 100 meters up and I asked him if it was his. I have no idea how he accidentially had gotten it up there. He managed to get it back down to his lot.
They have a park/sandbox in the center of the 9 sim block where a number of the new residents were hanging out. It was good to see them already using this as a gathering space. One guy was excited and wanted me to see that he could make a sphere (all by himself). I was surprised to see that others were already doing a pretty decent job of building things. To be able to watch this many new residents running around in this large of an area of their own is very interesting. I think this is a very cool thing that Linden has done.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh. I spent the first 6-9 months here not interested in creating content and didn't have a clue how to rezz a prim :) When I finally decided to BE interested I was as tickled as this guy everytime I learned something....still am really:)

I'm not that guy, but I did lose my house last night (I had somehow put it into my inventory) It's a traumatic experience to be playing with a cube and suddenly find that your house (minus the front and back doors) just disappeared into the ether. ...especially when you are new enough not to know where the help option is in the menus.

...and knowing that you had been given a great deal on a house and land only to screw it up in the first night online... that is a real bummer... mind you once I figured out with the help of a Linden how to get my house back to where it belonged I was quite relieved and while I was a little hesitant to experiment with building things inside the house again eventually I got over it and have started thinking about renovations.

I was glad they included a park/sandbox to these sims this go around. A clear space in sl usually ends up becoming a hangout.

They have a swimming pool...a DEEP pool...LOL! I saw other toys to ride on that a regular park would have. The park is huge and this does allow for fun test-building. I met a lot of fun people there who are eager to learn and build :-)

Funny how they grouped nine sims in a block around a central park but couldn't seem to understand that people wanted that arrangement when bidding on bulk auction sims.
