From: Catherine Cotton right meaning those with over 50,000L$ still think its cheap and continue to rate as usual. Then I suggest you quit fussing, get some cheap cash on GOM, and you too can view everything as cheap... Damn.. Haven't you heard the saying "Nothing in Life is Free"?

Why do people rate? Why are you so horny to rate someone. Most that rate nowdays dont do it because the person deserves a rating, they rate because they want that person to rate them back..because they want to get money from ratingbonuses. If someone comes up to me and rate me 3+ for just passing by.. i just dont get it.
It should be called Donation_o_Matic or something instead of Rating.
If you can't rate someone because it costs 25L, tell them with an IM what you think of their work or whatever... Or donate money to them, works too.

I signed the petition due to the WAY these changes are being implemented, not because of the changes themselves. In the long run the changes will be good for SL I think. However, LL should have announced these changes more than 2 days ahead of implimentation. It is this short-sighted approach to customer relations that I'm signing against.

I just learned of these changes yesterday... I'm behind a little, too busy building stuff I guess.
Ok, the petition.... The thread starter.... The changes being made seem to be ok as far as I can tell. Of course, you don't see me running around rating people for lindens. The economy of SL does however need to have checks and balances so it does grow in the right direction. Those of us who understand econmics a little more can see that this could be a good thing.
Now the petition is fine but I don't see any alternatives from the author. I don't see any proplosals or suggestions for the economic conditions here, just a petition to stop changes. You may as well go deep into the woods and post it on a tree because a petition to stop without any alternatives has short legs. You may as well spend your time picketing outside the factory. Maybe form some sort of union and appoint a board to come up with new ideas for SL.... but this petition is silly without some educational reasoning explained to those who are signing it. Besides, I think it's a waste of time without other proposals.
Bottom line here is change. Change is hard no matter what. Change is necessary in any state, in any world, in anything you ever do. Without change, none of this would be available. However, change is painful most of the time and that's why most people are hesitant or petition against it. Change though, is going to occur, needs to happen to create checks and balances in this online community of creativity. In the end, after these changes have lived out, I'm sure it will help the economical conditions here.
Ask yourself this... How can a caterpillar ever become a butterfly without going through the pain of change? It's called "metamorphosis" comonly referred to as "transformation" and known to be very painful. A caterpillar's skin doesn't stretch and change is painful... but without it, we'd never see any butterflys.
Now, I have to believe that with the recent merger and the money that has been put into SL, I'm sure there are people of much higher education working on this everyday. Their purpose is not to chase us away, their purpose is to help the economy and make sl a better place for all. I have to believe that SL is their nest egg and they are taking care of it.
For now it's up to the rest of us. For every action there is a reaction and we all have a choice to make. We ultimately control the economy here and the changes are going to happen so long as we have petitions with on real alternatives.
What should we spend our time on. We can all sit here and fight the changes that are necessary for stable growth and economic conditions, or we can make the best of what's happenning and grow. Either way, changes are going to continue to happen whether we all agree with them or not. Change needs to occur and I'm sure this isnt' the last of them.
Either way, you'll keep logging on. Those of you who threaten to leave for good... you'll be back anyway and if you just leave your avatar, you'll get another one. So it costs a little money. Well that should give people an incentive to be creative, and that's what SL is all about. Whether it be creative in coming up with ways to get money to spend here or sparking creativity in the world that you can market and sell. Either way, without the creativity from it's users, SL would just be another chat room.
Also, the resources to learn to build and the willingness of the people here to help one another is plentiful so if you don't know how to do something, just ask or seek out education to do it. We all have a choice. Being broke and not knowing how to build or script is a lame excuse and we can come up with those all day.
That's my two cents. I hope we can all grow and learn and develop lasting relationships on here and please remember, this is just the begininning of SL, not the end!
I did not sign, I'm not picketing, and I am not, and wont be a member of any union!

From: Raiden Karuna I understand perfectly thanks. Its ignorant people like you that don't understand that SL is made up of its people, and a large portion of its people dislike these changes. You also don't understand that theres better ways to fix inflation then what they are suggesting. The ones who support the economic changes seem to be a very small, selfish/greedy/anti-social group, who does'nt care if Sl losses a large majority of its population. Now go find something productive to do, and stop wasting everyones time. Actually Raiden... I'm not rich and never have been, the most i have is 3 or 4k at any time. Yes, perhaps you could call me greedy, i want as much money as I can get but i don't con people or do dirty deeds just to get it... i work for it. Wot better ways are there to fix inflation? how does RL economy fix inflation??? tax is raised and prices go up. What way should it be done then, since you say there's a better way to rectify inflation? and for the record... we're lucky we get ne money outta LL each week in stipends! all othe rgames do not give game money to subscribers. Find something productive to do? you're doign the exact same thing as we are, discussing the economic changes... 'pot calling the kettle black' eh?

I did not sign, I'm not picketing, and I am not, and wont be a member of any union! Raiden have proposed many ways to reduce inflation to the lindens and CEO, besides what they are choosing. He just did'nt mention it in the petition.

Cause then the folks like me will be left to rule. So please, don't let me stop you from reaching the exit. I have found something productive to do, keeping your worldly views balanced with common sense. If so many folks dislike the changes, they know where the exit is..
