IGE: (edited)wits

After paying money into GOM and it not appearing in my account, I needed to buy some land neighbouring my own quite quickly before it got snapped up by some random big-box-builder. So I misguidedly went to IGE, believing that as the "other" big L$ trader would be vaguely reputable.

After giving them the equivalent of £25 for L$10,000, nothing appeared in my SL account, despite my clicking the "Now! (within 30 minutes)" option. (Yes, I did wait thirty minutes). I contacted their live-help, to be confronted by someone speaking pidgin English telling me to "check us back in one hour time thank you goodbye". EXCUSE ME?! I've paid money into you via PayPal, and all you can do is repeatedly tell me to piss off? I'm a paying customer!

Don't deal with this bunch of jokers. I know GOM are having problems, and I've used them successfully in the past but I trust them to get things fixed. IGE, on the other hand. are just a rubbish company employing people in god-knows-which Indian call centre to provide no service whatsoever.

Lotte, obviously personal experience counts for a lot and mileage varies, but I've used IGE once, and they were quick, efficient, courteous and the whole thing from quote to having money in my paypal account was about 3 minutes. *shrug*

Have you considered using Paypal's option to take back your money?
I bet that'll get IGE's attention.

I too have used IGE, and they have been nothing but helpful, I did have an issue once where they didn't get me the money for around 50 minutes, but only cos they needed to verify who I was etc.

I guess its all down to personal experience....

Hmmmm, well, I often tell ppl I will get to them eventually or to come back later, If I am busy, there is only so much one person can do... I admit its not the best customer service, but for my job, its better to give that someone my full attention when I am not bogged down by something else.

But then there is money concerned here, like i said I have had many dealings with IGE, some great, some not so great, but at the end of the day I still got my money, GOM is a faster way to get it tho, if you need it in a hurry, that you should remember

IGE: gigantic multi-national company, trading usually illegally in dozens of MMORPGs. Run by marketeers and businesspeople. Anecdotal evidence shows that they "farm" other MMORPGS for money, loot, and other prizes, then selling that stuff for profit. Their accounts don't "play" SL except to harass people occasionally.

GOM: "mom and pop" cash market, run by two guys from their basement. Trades only on SL, legally and with the full cooperation of LLab. Plays SL to have fun.

IGE service varies. But calling them "fuckwits" is kinda unfair, really.

If you need L$ fast then best option is to look if am online and then IM me and order via my website. But when I am not online IGE is still fastest method. They charge some more than GOM or I do, but they have active staff 24 hours which I consider kinda cool.

There is also service Hank provides. I think it is automated and fast, although I have never tried it.

I have used IGE twice

1st time i ordered 25k and they were brilliant delivering within 20mins.

2nd time i ordered 50k which took nearly 2 hours in total. After the 30mins were up i contacted live help which messed about for a while before telling me they had to call to verify some things. When they called all they asked was what my inworld name was and that was it.

Another trick is to have rich friends in your backpocket.

I had an issue with IGE too, Quite different though. I have used them MANY times without problems (Well, any problems were to their disadvantage anyways!) On several occasions I had sold my lindens and wound up being paid US$ twice. My last issue with IGE was tradign lindens for WOW gold.

I handed my lindens in and then i didnt hear from them for several hours. So i contacted them via Live Support. When i spoke to them they said it seems a mistake was made about how much balance they had on the server I play on and they didnt have the 1000 gold i traded L$ for. So they said it would take a day, two at most to come up with the balance and that i would be payed 1050 if I was willing to wait. 2 days passed and they sent me the 1000 gold I originally ordered so i called them and told them they didnt give me the 50 gold they promised. About 30 minutes later i got a mail in WOW containing not 50, but 1050.

I'm amazed the thought police haven't nixed this topic heading yet. A bit slow on the trigger today are we? Oh, tied up testing 1.6 maybe...

I wouldn't call them fuckwits exactly, but I hate having to use IGE. For various reasons, yesteday I was compelled to use them.

They are awful.

With the first transaction, somehow there were so many screens and whatnot I ended up putting an order through without finishing my shopping cart and then whoops, I was stuck. GOM is better in that way because it has "clawbacks" if you change your mind about a sale or puchase, and can catch it in time.

Next, I got a message they would get me cash in 30 minutes. Well, try more like three hours. But then, I had to go back to them, having messed up the shopping cart. Now, I am suspect, of course, trying to do more than one transaction in a day. So now, they first send me an e-mail telling them to get them on live help, then tell me on live help that they will call me in person to see if I exist, then they don't call.

It's funny to think that reaching a live person on a telephone is going to get this "chargeback" problem solved for them. If anything, it is more likely they are just capturing more data to sell elsewhere. I know I have to fight off about 10 spamming browser hijack screens and stupid fake surveys every time I go to that site.

So...I wait and wait and WAIT and finally I call them myself on their -1-800 number which just rings and rings. It says it is "in the United States". I suspect it is in a boiler-room in Hong Kong or something though. So I get back on cs, and finally I get a live person calling me, they check out everything about me, mine me for more data, then finally they say they will send me the Lindens...but they don't after 30 minutes, necessitating more calls and customer service and yanking on their chains.

Yes, they suck. But, well, there, they got the Lindens finally.

I used to use IGE almost every week, buying L5k for around $24.00 because I wasn't Paypal verified. Then around Christmas they sent me an email offering me $10 off any order as a reward for being a good customer. So I said cool. But then when I went to their website, they had removed the L2k for $10 and the L5k for $25.00 and the lowest amount, L10K, had gone from something like $48 to $58. And the ones above it had gone up $10.

I thought this was an insult to my intelligence to thank me for being a good customer by taking away the price range I normally bought and raising the prices to compensate for a phony gift certificate.

I should thank them though. Because of this shady offer, I refused to buy from them again and so I was forced to be PayPal verified and now I buy money off of GOM at a cheaper rate and so far they have been instaneous.

Ah, sweet sattire. Most refreshing. My day is complete. I'm going to go rotate prims now.
