It is worth pointing out that, just as Linden Labs has no obligation and no intention of reserving themselves from competition with resident-run business, resident-run business has no obligation to act in the best interest of Linden Labs or Second Life.

I would say this is very precisely and very directly a result of Linden Lab's decision to enter the marketplace as competition and if they didn't see this kind of thing coming, they're blind.

Indeed, they will be fortunate if this is the only such liquidation.

It is not an open market if three of the markets are owned by the same person. All three of the markets can be used to manipulate the others with priviledged information to control market values. Competing against yourself is not true competition. If another third party market is going to move into this space, it should not be one with direct financial ties to an existing market. You cannot compare retail businesses that sell basically the same or similar products under different labels (for example, Honda and Acura) to a financial market - it is an apples to oranges comparison.

Well, that's not a conflict of interest. Monopoly maybe, but not a conflict of interest.

As always Anshe shows her good skills of marketing. It is common sense that taking up this subject of "only 4 days" sounds like music to most people here, mentioning her services at same time keep people's mind informed that they should check them out and she sounds like the angel saving the world and keeping peoples interrest on top.

Gom won't change their mind, Anshe and the "Big Biz" will use their skills to avoid loss and continue growth, the only one that will impact future prices of USD/L$ is you when choosing your exchange service. Don't get stupid, support GOM on their message, and keep boicotting "The Big Biz" (IGE, Future linden lab exchange, and anshe chung and her partners).

I know what a conflict of interest is, but can't seem to see one here...

The point made by all the definition entries is the point Hiro.

She has a direct conflict of interest when viewed in the public space.

As for her own business interests there are no conflicts (which is what you asked seven posts up).

Saying she has one doesn't make it clear just what one you mean. I see the (business) interest, but not the conflict. And I'm not at all sure what you mean by "the public space."
