PANIC!
FIRE!
DEATH!
END OF THE WORLD!

*runs around in circles, screaming*

There, did that properly capture this exagerated panic and dread that seems to be permeating the forums today well enough?

Come on! A post that has only two sentences, and both of those deal with the hypothetical state of mind of someone you have never met or hardly even talked to????

It's called "Kremlin-watching", and people got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it during the Cold War. And some of them became corporate heads and secretaries of state.

And they exercised the same kind of psychological hyperbole to make their cases that blaze does. But on the other hand - the Kremlin was responsible, too, because their own, bland pronouncements covered so much internal drama.

SLExchange will be targeted by LindenSoft (MicroLin? Phill Gatesdale?) soon enough. Now that GOM is shutting their doors, it's only a matter of time before LL declares that 'a central shopping index is critical to the SL community'
I agree that LL will want to integrate profitable features into its own sphere of content, after all LL is in business for profit. I disagree that the motive will be to squash competition from third party sites; I think its just long term profit planning.

This circumstance reminds me of the real life furor over WalMart entering small town communities and driving the Mom & Pop stores out of business. There is merit on both sides of the debate, but in the final analysis LL must go where the profit is to be found.

If you read the forums more and played WOW less, Eboni, you may have noted that I have explained that Strawbearry was my alt since the day I created her.

There IS no other alt, but when there is, I will make a special announcement (under "Announcements," where it would be appropriate) just for you. Try not to miss it.

If you do miss it, you can still tell it's me by the fact that I sign all my posts "Coco."

And I do mean ALL my posts, in every online game I play, have ever played, or will ever play, and I do mean "Coco."

coco

My, my, aren't we combative. Cocoanuts did you ever think that maybe I have a life and family and I don't have time to keep track of all of your hypocrisy in forums? Since lately it is so rampant it would be a full time job. Just because I don't talk incessantly about a husband and kid no one really cares about, but that doesn't mean that life doesn't exist.

Again kudos on gaming first land.

Must you talk so incessantly about your life and family?

And no, I don't think being too busy to read the forums is your problem.

I think being unable to recognize ethics when you see them is your problem.

I have to admit, though, I don't have time to keep track of all your innuendos and derogatory commentary in the forums.

coco

P.S. To be srious, I've learned a great deal about you from your comments on the forums. About your family home in New Orleans, for example, and your views on various topics. I consider myself enriched by knowing these things about you.

In my case, though, you have a detail wrong - it's kids, not kid.

Is it kosher to kick a dude in the nuts when you're fighting?

Well, you do what you gotta do, I guess. But it's pretty dirty.

Did you buy more than one first land plot between your two accounts?

When you were looking to buy your first land, not just first land but mature only first land, you seemed a little peeved that someone would use an alt to get first land when there were people with no land who needed land. I guess once you have your land, it doesn’t matter about other people. Nice ethics, or lack thereof.

Well since we know that you "only F my husband" it is not shocking that it is more than one kid. Honestly, I don't give a rats ass about your family or how many kids you have or how often the husband you have to ask his permission to spend $10, gets some ass.

I see what you mean, Eboni. I hadn't looked at it that way. But I think I was talking about people who used alts to buy up for land they intended to sell off and had no intention of using.

My Strawbearry has no intention of selling off this land. She is gonna stay right there, right next door to me.

She is a premium account, and pays every month. Are you telling me, Cristiano, that it is a against the rules for one person to have two premium accounts and get First Land with each?

I thought First Land was one of the benefits of having a premium account, along with the higher stipend.

I see no reason why I should prevent my premium account from getting her First Land so that others can. It's not like I'm going to move, or cancel her, or anything like that.

hahahahaha now that's funny.

But that's NOT the way I got the kids.

And you are still wrong about that "asking permission" thing.

First land is just that - it was a benefit for first time users, and is by account holder, not account. It is against the rules, and the spirit of the program, to use it in the way you did. A premium account includes 512m of tier. It does not guarantee you that you will get a plot of land for $512L. You should have paid market value for the second piece of land that you bought.

News to me.

coco

P.S. It says (I just now looked it up):

"
2. What is the ongoing cost of owning land?
To own land you must sign up for the $9.95 per month Premium membership. You'll be able to purchase a 512 square meter plot of land before any land maintenance fees kick-in."

Yep, nowhere does it say you can buy a 512m plot for $512L or anything about First Land.

Oh I hope so. If I'm going to do web shopping in SL I'd very much like it to be integrated and from a source I could trust, rather than another resident run solution that, while they can seem established and trustworthy could easily just pack its bags and leave everyone in the lurch, as we've already seen can happen overnight.

Unfortunately, I dont think you can really compare Microsoft and LL.

Unfortunately, I don't trust LL at all.

Except you just possibly denied an actual newbie the ability to aquire first land. Why should you get 2 first land plots? I thought you were all about the newbies and helping out new people in the community? You just effectively said "To hell with the newbies, give me the hook up". I think it is nice we can see exactly where we stand. The rules of common decency apply only when they benefit you and just like most people, you will fuck anyone over if it helps you achieve your goal. You know for all of my forums differences with you, I thought you were a better person than that. Enjoy your 2nd first land.

You thought I was a CRAPPY person, and make no bones about it every chance you get, Eboni!

Or should I mutilate your name, too, like you do mine, with Cocoanutz?

How about Ebonimaroni?

Or Ebonimoroni?

In any case, no, I am not doing anything ethically wrong.

I purchased a second account. That second account gets $500 a week and gets to buy one 512 First Land plot, just like any other account.

I'm not making up alts for the purposes of buying up all the First Land and reselling it to a land baron or somebody, then getting rid of the alt, and that is the practice to which I referred in the original post of mine we are discussing here.

I've made an alt I plan to keep in perpetuity, and I didn't notice there was anything anywhere saying she wasn't entitled to all the same perks my first account gets.

coco

P.S. My new account IS an actual newbie. It is a whole new, actual account. Just like when I had two accounts in TSO.

P.S. Not to mention I didn't deny a newbie the chance of buying First Land at all. There is OODLES of first land, and has been ever since I got this alt. When I originally commented on people buying up all the first land, when I was looking for it, there was scarcely any first land, for weeks.

Cocoanut,

Ok the lengths you will go to in order to justify what you did makes me ill. First land is a program put in place for a first time land buyer to have a chance to get land cheaply. It is not a program put in place to subsidize your ability to buy land. You have not ethical high ground to stand on here. It is lame, whether you are keeping the land or selling it. To claim your new account is a "newbie" is a joke. It is you, with access to your established income that easily could have afforded to buy a plot. What you instead did is deny someone else the chance to get a piece of land affordably. Nice justification, but it doesn't fly and I am shocked that you would insult people's intelligence with such a lame explanation as "my second account is a newbie!".

I made a typo, when typing "nut" and I am used to saying "nuts", it is rare to actually use just nut. Your friend has already made a mockery of my name, hence the AKA under my forum name, I doubt you can do a hack job 1/32 as well as he has done.

I have never called you a crappy person. I have just said that I am disappointed in you, because originally upon meeting you, I thought you were a great person, or I would have never stopped what I was doing (which was doing something important with Cris at the time) to spend over an hour with you. I think you are currently setting a very poor example, and it is disappointing. I see that you have no more respect for your comman man when it comes to land than your Justice League Homies. Birds of a Feather...
