Right, that and ROAM.
I wonder if this will have a positive impact on MetaAdverse? Or a negative one? If you can TP from landmarks, I think it could possibly have a positive one. It will be interesting to see if LL is considering LSL support for P2P _____________________

"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches." |

- Vehicle market will take a downturn (sorry cubey)- I totally disagree. Vehicles have never been about travel from one sim to another. Teleport via telehubs has always been preferable to commuting by vehicle. In SL vehicles are for fun. If anything, P2P will boost my business and all business by allowing people to teleport right to the shop from a Landmark. _____________________

I totally agree with cubey and jillian, although i think that sim crossings have got better, with mouslook getting fixed too, i havent got lost in a void in a vehicle since 1.7 which is very new indeed, i think that vehicles may well get even more popular when and yes i said when havok 2 is finally rolled out, and a whole generation of new vehicles becomes a possibility _____________________

all in all, it seems like p2p will force land owners to be innovative ... to force them to make people WANT to visit their land rather than being forced to because of telehubs and telehub land barons.

Due to me having a really slow computer (and assuming quite a few others are like me as well), I dislike to travel because it takes so long so I explore less and shop around for the best prices less and when I find a place I like I tend to spend more time their then I would have otherwise. So with faster travel times it means I can explore more and stay put less. So my guess would be that some heavy traffic popular businesses will see a small drop in traffic while some unknown business will see a small increase in traffic as people travel and explore more.

My own concern is corrupting the people that teleport directly into one of my sordid converations.
I'm thinking that the economy in general may improve once P2P is in place. I imagine there are alot of people trying SL for the first time. Flying around, TRYING to explore, yet their frame rates are so poor and the streaming (trickling) 3D is so slow that they just log off and never comeback. When P2P is in place, new people will still fly around and explore, but they wont be forced to try and fly (stutter) over several sims of partially downloaded buildings just to see a certain location they've been told about. Ideally, Linden Lab obviously needs to find ways to reduce lag and improve framerates, but if they can't then they may need to find ways of discouraging people from moving. ![]() Warning - Radical idea: Walking in SL isn't so bad, yes, its slow. But it gives the 3D and textures time to load. So maybe thats the answer. Force people to walk. If we need to travel a long distance to a location then we can teleport directly to it. Or maybe just allow premium account holders to fly. Then as the new folks climatize to Second Life, and become hooked. They can then upgrade to premium account holders and live happily ever after. The End. |

The Sim Av limit seems to be at 40 persons.
The extremely popular stores will need to have multiple locations to support 40 plus people. Or, to put it another way, if everyone believes that all stores can be condensed into one, they should consider what else is happening on that Sim. Say store A has SL wide 20 shoppers at the same time, and they decide to consolidate to one store on a reletively popular sim with 20 regulars. Now the 41st Shopper can't PTP TP. Bad for Business! Or the converse - Avatar A has a shop/residence next to popular store. Now he can't even go to his own home/business because the Sim is Full! I would think the big hubbers of SL will be gobbling up their own Sims, instead of locating on 20 different hub land locations. Any big store owner should be considering consolidation to one Sim so they do not impact others, and can control their own growth. |

Mostly you, Champ. Unfortunately, with not nearly enough momentum.

The sim av limit is currently set at 40 in most places, private islands have this set upto 100 since 1.7's enhancement in sim performance to handle avatars, i expect that after some time for the system to be analysed that the sim av limit will be increased on the mainland too, and probably can be on request providing sufficient need. _____________________
