How much money do you make per day in SL

So when Philip says that the transactions average $80 US per person per day (was that what he said? needs checking) it masks the fact that a few huge land deals and club sales, etc. passing between the top 2 percent oligarchs, when averaged out, looks good.

The median, rather than the mean, should be used both in Philip's remarks and in this sort of poll. The median is much less susceptible to outliers than the mean. The mode is also useful. Simply tossing out the outliers is not a good way to improve the quality of the answer.

Assuming you have any confidence in the data, which I don't, as the forums are not a representative sample of the SL world population as far as I can tell, and a poll like this, involving self-selection and a controversial topic, will most likely draw an even more skewed selection.

It occasionally puts gas in the tank and last year it sent me to Vegas for a good time. I have got to figure out how marketing works in SL these days. It's a lot harder to sell vehicles than it was this time last year.

Its a straight forward question.

Look at the total line on the detail tab in your account history.

Estimate your average over time.

Just to put things in perspective, I did the math using today's GOM exchange rate.

1 to 100 per day = US$1.53 to 153.36 per year
100 to 500 per day = US$153.36 to 766.80 per year
500 to 1000 per day = US$766.80 to 1,533.61 per year
1000 to 5000 per day = US$1,533.61 to 7,668.06 per year
5000 to 10000 per day = US$7,668.06 to 15,336.13 per year
10000 to 20000 per day = US$15,336.13 to 30,672.26 per year
20000 to 30000 per day = US$30,672.26 to 46,008.40 per year
30000 to 50000 per day = US$46,008.40 to 76,680.67 per year
over 50000 to per day = over US$76,680.67

Just curious, for folks that responded to the poll, did they realize how much US$ they were saying? Do they consider this before or after subscription and tier costs?

With it set up like that, I have to have picked the wrong one. I do maybe 2-3 jobs a month between 5k-10k. So at most that is 30k in a month, plus sales. So at my very best, I make a little over 1k a day. I picked between 500-1k a day because obviously every month isn't my best month. Thats around 120 bucks on my best months. Like I said before usually I am able to pay tier and my phone bill which is 25 (tier) + 50 (phone bill) = 75. Though I do have some spending money for things like toilet paper and soap, so about 95 a month from SL. Lets make it 100 because some months are better and some are worse (gambling). Thats 1,200 a year. I guess he is right. I never realized it was that much cause I never have more than 20 bucks on me at any given time.

At this time last year Thereians came flooding into SL with the mentality, "you don't build it, you buy it". God bless those Thereians. They got me a PS2, a DVD burner and 30 extra pounds of pizza (which it took 6 months to lose btw  ). They came from a game where the object was to buy money (I mean I was in the game for 10 minutes before it was trying to sell me therebucks) and then spend it as fast as you can. God I loved the Thereians. Now there are so many more builders and fewer consumers that competition is stiff.

hmmm...I answered 500-1000, but maybe should have gone lower. It's hard to decide what's a meaningful answer, as my SL habits and income change all the time. The average since I started is prolly in the 100-500 range, but for the last couple months a little higher (which will hopefully continue). Of course, I only spend serious money on land at this point, and I have yet to make enough L$s that I'd cash them out. Raising L$s won't be meaningful again unless I make a big enough jump that SL is paying for itself (at which point i can up my tier :D)
