From: Dreams Lightcloud Indeed Buster, well stated. I run 6 to 7 events a week. I am a DJ and provide prizes and entertainment for the community. I have *regulars* that attend my events. As do many others that I work with.
So, the only viable alternative that I can see is if a member would make up an events calendar for all of us to post our events on. We wouldn't have the TP option on this calendar. But, we could give the coordinates and offer to TP people into our events.
The problem would be getting the events callendar's URL out to the masses. Now THIS is a great idea. And we could provide a link to bring up the map and populate it with the TP coordinates. Will have to do some testing.

From: Patrick Playfair Now THIS is a great idea. And we could provide a link to bring up the map and populate it with the TP coordinates. Will have to do some testing. If someone wanted to create some sort of 'event kiosk' - that would bring up a page where we could all post our events to on the fly - that would be most awesome. The problem would be coverage - it would need to be all over the place for residents to actually get to the data we'd be providing. I'd be more than happy to put a low-prim Kiosk for this purpose up at the Shelter. My hunch is others may be willing to do the same on their properties. And actually - now that I think about it.... What if we collectively got together, and donated to run a metaadverse ad for a "Global Event Calendar"? Metaadverse ads can be setup so that when they're clicked on, it takes you to a URL. If by "donating" to run the campaign, we got access to post our events there, I'd think it would be a win/win for everyone. Metaadverse could solve the inherent coverage problems.... Just ideas

You have said exactly what I would say on this issue, but I'd just add that this will affect Anshe's deal to events hosts (come host on her land and she'll pay you what you made before). This means that events hosts as employees of landowners in all forms ends now unless the lindens change their minds. Events hosts must own land to post the event in the free advertising mechanism of the events calendar. I have not heard from any Linden that this means that land owners must also host all the events for which they are posting. Again, the primary issue is compensation. Events will lack variety so long as we do not capitalize on the creativity of events hosts. A major incentive for creative problem solving is compensation in the form of $L. Why should we expect events hosts to host when they aren't compensated? Finally, at the spa, we also have different spaces for different activities. We have truth or dare pits, a little stage, a big stage, a dungeon, a waterfall, massage spaces, etc. Prior to the change, we used to be able to list the coordinates where someone should land in order to quickly see where we were. We joined all the land of the spa on the advice of Lindens so that we might be sure to get all the dwell we were entitled to if someone stopped in one part of the land for less than five minutes, but had spent a total of five or more minutes on our property. Now, the only way we can make events coordinates work is to ignore that advice and split parcels into smaller groups. Other organizations have already used this system to "game" the intent of the system. This is no way to accomplish any goal other than to further frustrate club (and spa) owners and events hosts. Robin indicated in the Hotline to Linden section that they would be evaluating events soon based on variety and numbers compared from data prior to the events support changes (prior to Jan 17) and after the support changes. I hope that they do this and that they understand what we already understand: that quality events and events hosts are undermined by the present system, which means that SL players have less reason to be in world, and have less tools with which to convince their friends to join them in this virtual reality. From: Trixie Thereian : no I dont want to hold events at Anshe's mall.
Governor Linden is the only one who can post an event at one of the stages wehre mentor and teacher events are supposed to be allowed to be held.
Variety of events has gone way down because there is no support not because of who can and cannot post the event on a particular property.
I am constantly changing where an event is held on my island because of the type of event. so I need to be able to change those coordinates accordingly. bicycle race held in the park. wedding held in the chapel on the other side of the island. dance party held in the club etc etc etc. I think you know what I mean.

More Pain, Less Gain

Aren't we saying that club owners pour money into these places and don't ever get that dough back? Why would they want to pay MORE money they don't have, unless they're rich and don't care about blowing hundreds and hundreds of dollars every month on second life? Would small orgs be charged the same for their 10 listings as large orgs are charged for their 120 listings per month? I don't know, this seems like more downloading of second life admin costs onto its residents. ;-p From: Travis Lambert What if we collectively got together, and donated to run a metaadverse ad for a "Global Event Calendar"?
