1. Anshe Chung - no explaination needed. She's the undisputed Economics Empress.
2. Jamie Hale - founder of Gaming Open Market, the exchange that allowed us to trade in our L$ for USD$. What a guy!
3. Apothecus Silverman - founder of SLexchange.com which pioneered virtual commerce in SL. He's also made (and continues to make) a FORTUNE from doing it.
4. Kermitt Quick - creator of Tringo, which has revolutionized the events listing. Never before has one av influenced SL so much by offering one product. Tringo may very well be the highest grossing product of all time.
5. Shaun Altman - founder of Cyberland, SL's first publicly trade "company". Raised over L$4,200,000 through the offering of stock. Has over 450,000 meters of land locked down and ready to sell. Elevated himself from the obscure position of furry fox to CEO extraordinare.
6. Cristiano Midnight - creator of Snapzilla. Philanthropist and virtual politician. Introduced a successful line of pose products. Though not as monetarily successful as others, his influence puts him above his peers.
7. Aimee Weber - the fashion uber fuhrer. No explaination needed. Rich beyond any avatar's wildest dreams.
8. Alby Yellowknife - founder of the Ashburn Races (sold to Jenna Fairplay) and currency speculator. Unapologetic right winger. Unashamed and unabashed libertarian. More influence than money.
9. Wuvme Karuna - founder of a very successful line of progressive women's clothing. Innovative designs, fresh fashion. Very influential in the apparrel industry.
10. You - Without you, there would be no SL.

Great idea, but..
You should have just done the 5 Most Economically Influential Avatars in Second Life since as far as economic influence you listed only 5.
And I think #1 would be James Otis, as GOM influences the entire economy of Second Life.
Anshe is successful, but her operations affect mainly the price of land.

I don't see Wuvme outranking Chip. He was making a boatload of cash before she even signed up.

Hi Jamie, On behalf of Cyberland and the stock exchange both, let me say thank you for this recognition. It is a great honor to me, and I'm sure to Cyberland's entire board of directors and body of shareholders, to be publicly recognized in such a way, on the same list as all of these wonderful people! In spite of the precedent setting accomplishments of both Cyberland and the stock exchange to date however, I remain, a humble fox standing at the beginning of a long, long road.

Through word of mouth. If you've established a good word of mouth rep, its obvious your sales are GREAT.

From: Jamie Bergman Through word of mouth. If you've established a good word of mouth rep, its obvious your sales are GREAT. I don't think that is always the case - I know some very well known retailers whose sales would actually surprise you. Retailers also compare notes with one another, and I am quite happy with my position in terms of sales. If I wanted to be more aggressive about it, I would be, it is just not that important to me. It covers my $300 tier a few times over each month, and that is fine by me. I am interested in too many other things to worry that much about it.

Um...no? Jamie isn't even one of the GOM founder's SL names (If you look at the contact page of gamingopenmarket.com, you can see where the confusion might be). Jamie Otis founded The Learning Center in Mauve and SL Appartments on Abbey and Abacus. Ricky Zamboni and Zeppi Schlegel are the SL names of the two GOM founders.

I am flattered to be on your list but in all honesty, *PREEN* is severely in debt. While I make a tremendous amount of money, this income is offset by a series of foolhardy investments that have nearly ruined me. A few examples :
-Paying Jauani Wu 5000 L$ per day to follow me and laugh like Ed McMahon any time I crack a joke.
-I paid 150,000 L$ for weapons and supplies to Neualtenburg contra fighters in exchange for political favors after their coup succeeds. Never heard from them again.
-I paid 85,000 L$ for "Aimee's Fairy Tale Fun Time Open Mouth Kiss Wonder Ranch" located in the teen grid. Closed by the Lindens.
-90,000 L$ FIC membership fees (they still never invite me to their meetings)
-Bribed the Lindens 40,000 L$ to arrange all the sims on the grid so a picture of my bum could be clearly seen from space (fortunately they are actually doing this).

From: Jamie Bergman I thought Jamie Otis WAS Zeppi. In fact, I'm pretty sure he is.
Though if he's not... please make Zeppi #2. Your ignorance of the SL players and what all anyone has done speaks volumes.

From: Merwan Marker Your ignorance of the SL players and what all anyone has done speaks volumes. Wow. I actually got Merwan to say something bad about someone... that someone being me. Definately a first for SL and a new low point in your SL career, Mr. Marker. What happened? You used to be all rainbows and smiles....

From: Jamie Bergman Wow. I actually got Merwan to say something bad about someone... that someone being me. Definately a first for SL and a new low point in your SL career, Mr. Marker. What happened? You used to be all rainbows and smiles.... It's partially my fault. I poked and prodded him in an attempt to make him come undone and start swearing in the forums. I had him *this* close when Team Anshe came by and ganked his ass in player vs. player. When the smoke cleared, a leaner, meaner (though still zebra striped) Merwan emerged, and I am rather fond of the new version that speaks his mind. Granted, it is still in that Merwan-esque double-speak sometimes, but whatever, it's excellent
