A premium member who doesn't do anything - otherwise they'd get more than the 500. I'm hardly a clubber or ratings whore.

Anyway - this may be useful for people to see what the income of your customers looks like under the new system.

I've been here 10 months and I get $575 lindens this week as stipend :D I never was into the rate thing...and I give it all away to the newbers now anyway.

I think 'rate whore'is a bad term.

If you are collecting 750 a week in linden money for your ratings (or half of that or whatever), it is pretty clear how you make a living. I've been here since April, and I get 250 for my total rates, and this included the occasional rating-spree. That was before the cut.

The system that allows you to collect a larger stipend than me (a content producer) by right clicking on random people is broken, and thankfully it was fixed. That isn't sour grapes, I do well enough off my sales. But it surely doesn't make any sense.

Which merchants have lowered prices?
01-18-2005 15:47
None of the merchants I have frequented, either in US or SL $ have lowered prices in the last week. I have been keeping track. Can you tell me where the sales are Talen? And also, know any merchants interested in advertising on programs for events? Donating prizes for sceners competitions?

If you made 800 this week then thats what you will make next week...the stipend bonus cut is already in place.

As for upload fee's ...no one said they will change...upload fee's rate fee's , stipends and bonuses were all calculated into where we are now. Many merchants have lowered their prices.

I can't give exact locations at the moment but I've seen quite a few...I know I saw 2 merchants that are selling everything they own now for a buck or 10 bucks. I lowered 2 of my houses from $100 to $1. and I have set out a few freebies around my shops. Also added a money tree that gives my weekly stipend away to the newbies.

I know quite a few merchants that that would advertise and or donate prizes ...I would be one. There was a thread in the main forum where a lot of merchants said they would donate for a lil exposure of their product.

I think upload fees should be based on the file size of the upload. Large files should cost more to upload.

I'm pretty new, so I don't have the big L$$$s, and I just spent almost L$100 a couple days ago on JUST ONE EYE TEXTURE. Excessive, maybe, but I wanted it to be perfect, and I think paying L$10 for just an eye texture is just as excessive.

I know the server can only process so many things at once, which is why I like the idea of some sort of local software where you can download your av to your computer and try out your textures in full 3D before you commit to uploading. That should cut down on the number of things the server has to process, and, as a result, they could probably lower the price of uploading. Or, even if the price didn't lower, it'd still be a lot of money we'd all be saving. And the LL hardware would be all :D. Everyone wins.

...the asset server is dying because we are not self disciplined enough to understand that there are very real limits to what the system can support and act accordingly...

No.. I think not. Perhaps... it may have to do with the fact that when one first comes inworld... one sees that there is no limit to uploads and plays the "game" accordingly. No where inworld is it "posted" that one shouldn't upload because the server is being hit "too" hard.

This "game" is pitched as offering "worlds" of unlimited possiblities and yet, often it "seems" that we are being blamed for the very real limitations that exist in it...

Also.. perhaps... when one hears of and has experienced asset server "problems" that existed before a $8 mil influx of Capital, one thinks that that $8 mil is actually going to be used to address hardware problems and that the overall "system" issues are going to be fixed "soon"...

So... one continues to upload... one continues to work while continuing to believe that living a Second Life is truly possible and is not just a smoke and mirrors, marketing con of "promises... promises...".

No - about half the banks issue Visa Debit Cards - the rest issue Switch/Maestro.

It does seem fairly ridiculous to have to set up a new bank account just for the Lindens. In the real world many more outlets take my solo card than an electron.

Roberta, can you get something like a secured visa card? I have a friend here in the states that has the worst credit known to mankind and can't get a real CC so he uses one that he has to deposit funds into for paying for his online game addictions. Sounds like a bit of a pain in the ass, but better than nothing. I have equally poor credit but fortunately my bank's debit cards are Visa debit.

We don't have pre-pay Credit Cards here. Also Paypal's pretend Mastercard service is only available in the US.
