From: Mina Welesa In RL I'm a very conservative, quiet individual who never does anything to disturb my neighbors. I wouldn't, however, even consider moving to a deed-restricted neighborhood, no matter how lovely, simply because I don't like the idea that someone else could dictate what color I could or could not paint my house, for instance. This attitude would be problematic for me in SL, as well, were strict zoning laws set in place. I'd have to move to the woods. Needless to say, this doesn't mean that option isn't a good idea. It might work very well for many people. Well as one who has moved into a nice quiet sim and then found someone put a mall up next to me and moved again, only to find a constant Tringo game going on a couple of lots over and then moved again to find lag, I'm looking forward to living in a place where I know none of these things will happen again. Oh and Anshe isn't restricting the color you paint your house or anything that severe. It's actually turning out quite nicely. I am looking forward to living in Midge.

As this whole "thing" explodes I hope there are some others out there who have been around long enough who will sit back, shake their heads, and sigh with me. At one point in time it sounded like a private island would help us escape this capitalist crap. Now it seems like we need a whole new private game. Excuse me for my intrusion, I'll phase out kindly now.

Yeah, I've been in Midge for awhile now and while maybe not everything is being done exactly like I'd do it (and probably likewise for my neighbours about me!) I have yet to see any reason why this isn't going to work.
We had our first informal SIM group meeting the other day. It was kind of fun.
The point being is that people who move into midge, even though they are probably going to build somewhat to their own vision, they are going to be generally mindful of their neighbours. Otherwise, they'd just buy somewhere else.
This seems like a workable compromise between chaos and strict zoning.
Now if only I could figure out how to build a road along the side of a hill..

Yes, Midge seems to be coming along very well now. About one third of sim is already populated. I suggest everybody interested just go there take one look

Clearer Picture Needed

Anshe, I think you might get a more meaningful response if you could show some pictures or produce a scale build showing how a sim built in acordance with your zoning policies might look like.
