From: Argent Stonecutter Anshe Chung explained that.
AnsheChung.COM needed to sell 2m Lindens fast. She found that if they put that much on the exchange at 1 point below they'd sell about 10% of the block and then it would stall as other people started selling 1 point below that. So she put 2M on at 300 and was able to unload them all in one day. OH MY GOD!!! I cant believe I'm seeing this! My guess was right, and one of Anshes cronies admitted to it?!?!?! If this is the case, then I blame all this on Anshe studios or whatever they call it for inflating the market just so that they can sell their money quicker. I guess your currency exchange on your web site isn't enough huh? Your selling off millions at higher prices and inflating market because your cashing out more than the population of SL buys! so then for your next sale, you need to sell higher than the last time! Good job Stonecutter, and thank you for bringing this all to our attention.

If something isn't selling at a given price, then by definition its market value is something else. "The Market" has been finding out what the L$ is worth. And guess what? It isn't what people had hoped. No big revelation here.

I do think that on LL's part some due dilligence may be warranted to see just what accounts are specifically and repeatedly posting sums significantly below market rate, and determine if there is direct and purposeful market manipulation happening, to the benefit of one specific entity, and detriment of the SL creative community.
In the real world if something like this was going on, a commodity being specificially sold undervalued repeatedly by a single party, there probably would be SEC involvement in determining if there was price fixing or market manipulation occuring. If so those involved would probably face criminal charges.
Its interesting the people trying to make money 'investing' with this group are actually encouraging their own loss. As it is in that groups specific interest to make sure the market devaluation specifically EXCEEDS the interest they are paying out... Aka if you put yer money in a scheme like Ginko Financial, you are specifically encouraging and aiding them to devalue your own $L reserves... If you want your money to be worth more, PULL IT OUT, a run on their part having to BUY BACK lindens to pay their customers withdrawals, would raise the value far more than their dwindling interest rate will accumulate it for you.
(plus if there does become enough uproar that the system is shaken up, theres no guarantee your money will be there at the end)

No big revelation here. I know how a market works, and I know that when a big business in SL tries to cash out more than the average buying volume on the exchange, something happens. You know what happens? It devaluates the L$ because people can't buy it fast enough. So as soon as anshe runs out of L$ to sell off, the market should stabalize. Now why would someone need to cash out that much money that often? I still see it as market manipulation as it is one group or one person who is swaying the market, and not the population as a whole. If the population of SL was dropping millions for sale at 300 all together, that would be one thing. But its not happening like that. The last I saw when the leader board still existed was that anshe was holding over 11 mil L$ so how long can she sell at higher rates till she runs out of money? The actions of one affect the many.

From: Michi Lumin Nobody else sees the constant 'pings' at exactly 300 over and over again?
I didn't want to bring it up because folks would tinfoil-hat me, but its *damn* obvious that someone wants to bring the Lindex down to or below 300.
I came to that conclusion a while ago and even posted it as such - funnier correlation is that the very instant it happens someone comes here with a new thread about how low it is.. in fact I've seen threads appear so fast that the phenominon they describe is past before you can go back and look at it I think Lindex should have a 'current amount on the market' figure - I think that figure would show some very interesting things.

This is one of those things we need all that anonymised economic data for.

What I don't understand then, is this: How can Anshe complain about the falling price of the Linden, if she's the one responsible for driving down the value?

A wise man once said, "If you talk too much you risk incriminating yourself and revealing all of your hidden secrets." (Jason Foo) I think the wash just hit the spin cycle, and now everything is coming out. When its all over with, we will pick the lint out of the dryer for the new NYX$ currency backing.

I don't mean to point any fingers, what Argent said just doesn't tally with Anshe's post in the other thread.
