LL has a lot of stuff to do besides parcel perfect pieces of land for YOU. the parcels in a sim are well advertised before you bid. don't bid if you don't like what you see. LL can't read your mind and figure out jimmy need 4096 right here and timmy needs a 512 right there.

if LL was focused on making perfect lots for YOU, then people would complain about the repetitiveness of terrain and the lack of vistas and blah blah blah.

that is why there are land traders who are willing to take in odd shaped odd sized parcels and reshape them for you upon request. i prefer LL focus on creating a better medium and compelling topography. but i also want to sell you my land! ;)

YOUR logic is missing a very important factor here...
when I bought this sim there was no adjacent sim

but then ....its YOUR game not mine ... oh mighty one I kiss your feet and feed your children thankyou for helping the lindens drive the auction prices up. you have done a great service to the players how could we complain ? forgive us

Everyone once in awhile, the feted inner core comes up with a hallmark slogan the epitomizes the ethos of the feted inner core, so that I don't even have to make this stuff up!

Not being part of said "feted" inner core, I feel safe in informing you that it's fetid. :D

Unless of course, you MEAN to say they're celebrated. Then, I retract my above statement.

However, from your seemingly derogatory demeanor toward said "inner core", I'm assuming you mean they stink.

Ah, welcome to the club, Marius. Yes, this was brought up a few weeks ago when the ranting against the "inner core" began. Prokofy was informed that the word was "fetid", but insisted he did mean "feted". Apparently, the "inner core" is celebrated by the Lindens and given special priviledges. (??!!)

However, those to whom he applies this label - together with his emotionally-laden adjectives - have embraced their fetidness and the phrase even migrated into Magellan Linden's press release. I think Prokofy is the only person who doesn't see that his derogatory speech patterns lead the reader to assume he's made a typo.

a few suggestions, on replacing the overused "feted" : "ballyhooed" (my personal favorite); "celebrated"; "well loved"; "honored"; "regaled"; "lionized"; "blessed"; "exalted"; "lauded"; "revered"; "hallowed"; "glorified"; "commended"; "extolled"; & "praised"

Either, but please, post-date it to the year 2093. I'm sort of in between banks at the moment.

So... I'm confused. What's this thread about, exactly?

Someone bought land in a mainland sim, that happened to border the Great Void... then they added a new sim to fill in the void? This is a problem somehow?

It isn't an "island" if people can build something next to it. I guess Linden figures that if you can ignore the rules of physics in SL, why ignore the rules of English too!

Let that be a lesson to me. Take this down: don't buy an "island", there isn't any such thing.

The Lindens use the word "island" to describe a private Sim, solely owned by one person, which will not have adjoining Sims except by mutual agreement with other private Sim owners.

I'm not sure where the use of "island" came from to describe anything on the Main Grid, but I'm 100% sure it wasn't from the Lindens.

wow!! I'm rakin' in the linden's here!! think I'll publish "the Maelstrom New Revised Dictionary®" and charge 1/1000th of a cent for the use of certain words :)

It's inexpensive, and a capitalist venture, the fetid apple core would be SO proud. :D

$3L for the Lightclouds for "regaled" please. We are the finer aristocrats of SL and that title pleases us. "Fetid or Feted" seems so passe, or as my teenager says "sooo 5 minutes ago".

Alternatively, doesn't putting up inside-facing-invisiprim type walls still work? *shrug*

(Yeah, I know, there are some alpha-related problems, but still...)

Buying land in established areas is one secret, like Brown and Boardman. There are many reclamation projects to be had here, but it would require convincing the Lindens to upgrade the crappy servers on those lands.

They have. Look at the server number, that's how you can tell. I'm not sure if all the core sim servers have been changed or rotated or how its works. But it has been in Boardman. The fps was over 3500 when I got there, which is great considering all the stuff in the market. It's less now of course cause we've packed it with trees and other junk.

Is this a new feature I don't know about? I can't find an appropriate sensor constant.

Marius, I'll take "well-loved" for L$4, please.

And phrase that in the form of a question?
