Assuming people figure out how to use the new land for sale searching stuff.

Land For Sale Find directory is going to become pretty unused as well, I expect.

I didn't see anything different with the Land for Sales Find, and I just used it.

Bring up the map and zoom in, tick land for sale on.

Stay zoomed in for a few seconds as it takes a moment to get the legend going.

To see the terrain, just tick off land for sale and tick it back on.

It'd be super duper cool if they could put the price per metre right beside all the $'s.

I've used the map to find land for sale for a while now--because I'm usually looking for land within a certain sim.

Well, I could see the find director used by people who are looking for first land, as that's hard to pick out on the map.

There was a Land for Sales tab on the map before this version that highlighted the land for sale. Why do you not have to fly now?

Because you can click the sale sticker over the land and see the size of the lot and the price that's set without actually having to go there.

This new map kicks ass. Now I can see how clogged a sim is without having to go there. Recognize cluttered malls from miles up in the sky, shop for land without having to leave the comfort of my sim.

Utterly fantastic :)

Maxx is, like, singing "What a Wonderful World".

In all seriousness I realize how useful this is for me, who has chromasensitive vision, to tell differences between all the land out there. Snow clearly looks like snow, it's very striking.

I have a question. That thing on the right is gone where you can find a particular Sim.

I had a Sim in my head where I had to go look at something when I got the time; it started with "F". I looked down the list a few days ago to make sure I recognized the name.

Now there is no way for me to see a list of Sims to recognize the name?

And even if I remembered the name, no way to locate it except going over the entire map with a fine-tooth comb on close-up?

Or knowing the name of something listed in places within that sim...

There was a partial list of sims somewhere.. Wiki maybe?

The missing drop down box(list of Sims)
10-25-2005 08:40
yeah, coco ... I miss that too... now.... the only way I see of finding the sim we want or need is to make a one time list of them all and open it in word pad with the game running.
*sigh*

It's an elegant subsection of the plan that will ultimately fragment The Community All Hail The Central Community. We can now travel through the world and check on parcels of land, clock traffic, and spot interesting new builds (explore) without having to physically teleport.

In addition, as noted above, we have no list of sims which greatly encourages us to concentrate our time in places we know; and stop worrying about what's being added to the world every day. What'll be really nice is when they add a few sim stats to the mouseover so, as Maxx said, we can intelligently avoid laggy sims when we do feel like flying around.

Agreed.

This is the modern age, why do we have to fly around everywhere?

We should be able to access it all from one spot.

Yes, it reminds me of getting rid of classifieds in that way. SL is the ONLY game or place I've ever been in where they on purpose get RID of information and communication they once HAD.

I'm hoping that in this case, with the Sim names, they are thinking of fixing it somehow. Maybe by sub-dividing it into three categories that aren't too long: Mainland, New Continent, and Private Islands.

Or - maybe I'm giving them too much credit to think they are going to fix it or replace it somehow.

At the least, I need a list of Sims, and also I need a map with the Sims written on them. Otherwise, trying to find a sim is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I read that in another thread, St. Paul, and tried that method just like you suggest! I even got it without too many tries, cause I seemed to remember not just F, but Fr, and whatever vowel.

You can see the sim names if you zoom in far enough. My setting is just a little past halfway up the bar.
