Some people have suggested that with the abolition of taxes, the economy has too few drains on personal income. I have an idea that may solve this issue (assuming it is one) and is fun at the same time.

The solution is food.

Our avatars are active. They run, they fly, they do backflips. Where do they get all this energy? I'd like to see an energy meter for our avatar. As you perform activities, your avatar uses up energy and becomes sluggish until it comes to a dead stop.

To prevent this, you eat a Food object and top up your energy. A food object is a special "Food" enabled prim that contains a certain number of Linden dollars, where each Linden dollar corresponds to an energy point. If you eat a L$10 food object, you get 10 energy points.

Eating could be an amusing avatar animation that results in the Food object's deletion, and the conversion of the Food objects L$ value to energy points.

Food is a great socializing tool also. There could be shared meals, or maybe a banquet, where the host fills the table with Food objects of varying energy values. People could socialize over the dinner and designers would have something new to build. It could create a whole new sub-industry of restauranteurs.

Anyone want to be a chef?

Dude. I already forget to eat in RL, and you want to add food to SL? (seriously -- I've been known to forget to eat over the weekend.)

My AV is gonna die, I can just tell. :D

Seriously, I'm kind of dubious. I just got out of another thread where a couple of people were complaining about 'greening up' in TSO. Wouldn't this be much the same thing? (also another reason why I didn't pick up The Sims after a week or two when it was still new and shiny)

Yes, please! Anything to make SL more like TSO! Because, you know... that's really fun! :rolleyes:

While we're at it, maybe we can add pissing and crapping. Yes, then we can follow in the ever-successful footsteps of TSO!

Eating that was not a necessity would be a good idea. Perhaps have the effects of a very large meal be apparent (big belly, sleeping on the couch!) and booze (hiccups and stumbling!)

Heh, whoa, we're getting progressively meaner whenever anyone mentions making SL more like TSO, did you guys notice that?

I can just picture it, six months from now, when someone says, "hey! what if we had to eat?" and twenty minutes later, is curled up in bed, sobbing: "I... just wanted... to... make a... suggestion!" :p

Note that everything you do in TSO could be scripted in SL, too... if you wanted to implement a similar game, it'd be possible.

Yeah, the part of The Sims that really irritated me was having to make my guy take a leak, sleep, and take care of endess trivial needs.

I think the way I've suggested it, it wouldn't be like The Sims at all. And really... I enjoy sharing a meal with friends. I think it's a shame that food and drink aren't necessary in SL. There's already a health meter in damage areas... why not extend its purpose to include refuelling.

But maybe eating shouldn't be needed as often as in TSO. And if you want to avoid eating for a while, deposit a large amount of L$ into your energy meter in advance. Go without food for a week.

Yes! Please add, eating, pissing, and crapping. I can make a fortune selling toilets!

how about just give our avs the ability to eat prims? :)
It would belike deleting them or returning it to the owner. So we can make food for people to eat :) but no power level thingy or whatever, that would be too much like the sims.

I suggest just create food as a toy and see if there is a market for food eaters.

I dont think it should be a feature or option.

You could easily script something like this, theres no need for it to be an actual part of SL by force.

I've never played TOS, but from the way people have talked about it I don't really want to, and I'm not really big on the options from there coming here like that.

If someone wants to script this as an optional game to play, that might be fun, but if I *have* to eat... bah... no. :P

Please don't make my avatar need food. If you want to shrink the money supply, cut stipends. :)

The problem is that people didn't recognize the good attributes of taxes while they're around, so now we're left with ungodly expensive auctions and land sales and t-shirts that cost 50L each. That's all I'll add.

Actually, I will add one more thing. :)

What ever happened to Rathe Underthorn and Si Money? You know, the two who worked their way up the economic ladder and owned half the world before. You know, that sucked really badly, but now who-in-the-hell can just buy up three sims if s/he wanted, without actually having to work in-game to earn the land.

Taxes again, anyone?

Ug.

Keeping track of my inventory is bad enough... :)

LOL this brings back an idea of mine I had a while ago!

Imagine we couldn't delete prims at will... and that we had to bring them to a giant foundry/furnace... so we could melt them down and make new prims! :D

P.S. For those who saw my physical machine a while back in Chart! LOL I would love seeing whole houses getting gobbled up by a compactor!

And then a pound of dark chocolate for midnight snack.

I like it, yezzz.....

Actually Daemioth, I know someone who bought TWO sims, but they are hidden and invite-only.
There's one heck of a lot more "big land owners" these days. I would buy my own sim if I had a decent job :p

I think, maybe a little region on the side devoted to TSO like stuff would be neat as long as there arerewards for doing it.

Is TSO really that bad? Or does SL blow it out of the water so well that it's that bad? If TSO had no competition it would still be a good game right?

It's nice to have the ability to script just about any kind of game play into SL but there are a few things missing. Challenge and reward being two parts. I think it would be neat, in the future, to have seperate SL worlds based entirely on challanges with rewards. A world based on the challenge of day-to-day living sounds fun to me, but I'll want to come back to the good old SL without boundries.

Well, at any rate, I think any changes that force anyone to do any challange would kill the appeal of SL.

Put this on an attachment for TSO game play!

CODE
list stuff = ["You have to go pee!","You are hungry!","You are tired!","You are lonely!"];
integer i;
default
{
state_entry()
{
llSetTimerEvent(25);
}

timer()
{
llDialog(llGetOwner(), llList2String(stuff,i++%llGetListLength(stuff)), [], 1);
}
}

Sure why not, I'd vote for this under one very simple condition. It be optional. I dont mind if others want to eat to burn some of thier money away, I'll start selling burgers, but I dont want to bother with eating myself. Feel free to have anything you want in sl, just make it an option so I can opt out should I choose :)
