Cus last night Im in a casino and had someone asking a question that I couldnt hear, and then got yelled at in an IM for being so inattentive. Does this only bother me?

There's some history to this. In 1.5 and some earlier, after you pressed Enter to a line of chat, a swirl of particles would surround you. This, even if you were out of range, would provide a visual cue someone was speaking. If it kept happening and you didn't see their words, you'd be out of range.

Of course, said particles also interfered with photo shoots, other particle displays, and so on and soforth. They're no longer with us.

Now, unresponsiveness is no excuse for rudeness in kind—how did you react to the IM? I'd find it perfectly understandable if you simply explained you were out of range.

llOwnerLandSay()

llOwnerLandSay(integer channel, string message);

Shouts/Says/Whispers on a given chat channel across ALL land in the given sim... Maybe owned by the owner, or owned by the same group....

Be nice to have a corresponding feature in the client, but an attachment could accomplish the same..

That would be perfect. Would greatly simplify creating scripts/games that work on large parcels without resorting to Silly Tricks.

Be nice if landowners just had an option to not allow chat from surrounding parcels but left the current chat functions alone. I understand that some people want to talk all the way accross a large parcel but bear in mind that not everone wants to hear you in in shout or in say.

You can speak in group chat or IM's. Maybe a parcel channel would be nice if you had to communicate to an entire parcel/sim at a given time.
