Interesting thread. But....

To re state part of my post on a previous thread on this topic....

irl you go to school to learn paying tons of $. for 2 to 4 years of school to learn what people know that have done things for years. Learning is a factor of life.....So it should be in a SL

But anyway I don't want to upset anyone namely the thread starter here who has grown to be a good friend on here, but even friends disagree at times. :-)

Now with those numbers quoted in relation to EQ.

If LL signs on 40,000 or 400,000 in the first month of it going gold

they would likely keep a good percentage of the new signups, just because they would be amazed at the content of world. Yes us betas are a minority so what tru effect would say 3000 betas have on 400,000 new signups?? If the world were blank at go live time, likely more would be unimpressed and turn away, becuase there would be nothing to work off of, and there wouldn't be many old timers(betas) available to help out. Cuz if us betas are paying at live time we are going to want to build or stuff back if it were all deleted. We do not pay now so it is easy to say that "Oh I would drop everything to help out a newbie" if it were all deleted. If you don't agree.....

Think of this..
Blank world, 400,000 new people potentially looking for land. Buying it all up asap. Nothing left of any value if you sit on your hands and help everyone out right away instead of getting back up from a wipe.

So I do think it would be a disservice to all involved to have a wipe.

But what I think should be wiped, is already being taken care of...

The land that long gone users have left taken up doing nothing, and the lost, and left to dwindle objects that do nothing but clutter the landscape.

Anyway we are human, it is in our nature to have our own ideas and to disagree. Life be it IRL or SL would be boring if we all agreed and thought the same.

With a game based on acquiring money, sex, and material goods, SL has effectively recreated all the negative aspects of the real world.

Mega Prim issues and resolution ideas....

plain and simple if you wipe it all SL becomes the looser not the Beta testers, the testers are aware of what is possible here , yes they lost time and money but have all the tools to reaquire that and in alot of cases more grand the second time around ....

BUT note its in caps cause its a BIG BUT
If its a total wipe and there is nothing here but Linden works then everyone NEW and PAYING will be like ummm damn this is lame, all because they do not yet realize the possabilities of SL

My personal opinion would be WIPE all the crap that is out there and keep all the nice stuff (theres a tone of crap)
And also a TON of really Cool and Nice work, the biggest problem will be who decides and how ... what is and isnt Crap without hurting peoples feelings...

They simply can not leave all of this for Full Version, nor do I believe they can wipe it and have the game an instant success...

as far as money and imported textures and inventory Items goes , well toss a coin because I could personally come up with as many reasons to keep them as to deleating them...glad I dont make these decisions because either way ya go someone isnt gonna be a happy camper and god knows enough people here dont like me now lol

so who has 10 accounts anyways ? read all the posts here and it doesnt say or was that just hypothetical?

This game is definitely the first time I've ever felt swayed towards the "I will pay to play" side of my gaming spectrum. I have always, ALWAYS refused to pay to play (for my own personal moral reasons) but this game has way too much potential to let go of.

So, with that being said, if there was a wipe, I really wouldn't feel like paying just so I can spend another month+ rebuilding everything I tried so hard to make in the first place. So, me? I'm anti-wipe thank you very much.

Besides (and I didn't read the whole thread so if this has been stated, sorry) I thought that when it did go live, a few extra sims would go up that would be completely empty, and the newbies could have a ball at those places. I dunno...
