well if SL wants to take away gambling they should also remove child avatars, with the amount of Sex and other adult content in SL those avatars should be banned and removed .. first of all I have heard some sick stories in here about adults role playing using adult avatar and child avatar then engaging in sex, that is pretty disgusting,, dont matter if the person behind the avatar is under 18 or over the notion that this can happen in here makes my stomach turn.

if SL wants to take away illegal stuff in here like gambling because of state laws in the US.. they should also remove child avatars, anyone who has children would agree.

SL Avatars do not have an age setting AFAICT - are you in fact suggesting LL ban short avatars?

1. As pointed out, Sexual Ageplay is already banned in SL. That came long before the casino ban. You see it, you AR it. Easy-peasy.

2. How would you do a blanket ban of child avatars? What would signify that one is a child avatar? There is no easy way for LL to do this without barring avatars of a certain height, which cuts off a whole lot of non-child avatars.

3. The stories of child avatars performing sexual ageplay are fairly small in number, while most child avatars are doing non-sexual activities (probably cleaner than most of SLs avatars as a whole). Would you throw the baby out with the bathwater?

4. Have you ever met a child avatar? Are you going purely off rumors from other players? Arguing for a ban based on an ignorant position is not a wise way to frame an issue.

4a. Hi! I'm a child avatar! Nice to meetcha, sorry you wanna ban me - but really I'm not very skery, an I dun do no icky stuff. So... um... why woudl you wanna see me gone, again?

5. There *is* a lot of sex in SL. That said, there is a sizable majority of places where there is none (only 15% of SL regions are marked mature). You will likely most often find child avatars in the safer locations. In fact, since the stuff in May and June, you are *most* likely to find them on their own lands.

6. LL's typical way of thinking is to ban people based on *actions* not *identities* or *avatars.* I honestly do not see that changing.

7. Any avatar in SL can simulate rape, or other creepy sexual behavior. Should all avatars be banned, then? Consider this question carefully.

I wasnt a member here back then

I started here a few weeks ago .. and as someone said in here they banned child avatar sex.. fine...my first week on here in june I saw a child avatar wearing an erect penis in a club .. anyways it was not meant to ban short avatars.. but the ones that are clearly children avatars, theres a difference.

So if we are to ban child avatars...does that mean we ban robots too? Then what..Furries? How old is a furry in human years? Then do we ban non-humans too, because we're not sure of their age?

The shape of your avatar isn't the issue...it's what you do with it that is.

Was it a child avatar, or a short adult? There *is* a difference, I agree, and sometimes it can be hard to spot the difference, which leads to all sorts of confusion (looking through the Resident Answers forum will lead to a few discussions about "short" (in the <6' range avatars being barred from varions locales).

Also, did you abuse report said person, or just ask them to remove the offending attachment?

Quoted for truth. This is also LLs current policy. ;-)

News to me ..I've only been here 4 weeks, I am merely stating what I have seen thus far, an enourmous amount of adult content.. which is great for adults, but have also seen people wearing a child avatar doing some questionable stuff.

The other people in the club may have reported the person but I dont know.

there are no child avatars in second life

there never were.

There were adult avatars that were crafted to resemble children.

There were and are account holders who Role Play children.

Theres also some children who role Play adults - who lied to get in to second life.

But you cant ban Child avatars - becuase there arent any anyhow.

Linden Labs would have to add a toggle to turn an avatar into a child (which would be a boon to Child shape designers - seriously) - before you could actually consider banning them.

As of right now theres only two possible avatars

an adult human male and an adult human female - everything else are just User content made to give the avatar the appearance of a child, furry, dragon, whatever.

SL isnt most places.. its a virtual world. As for gambling being illegal in most US states.. that I wouldnt know ..im not american.. but people that live in states where gambling is illegal can still gamble online via gambling websites. so why should SL remove it from here, when other places dont.

Im all for gambling in here like most other people

However as I have tried to point out without being smashed around in here and picked apart I think people seem to be missing the point I was trying to make about child avatars.

being somewhat new to SL I was unaware of changes that were made concerning those avatars and sex.

Please define exactly what makes a child avatar, and it can be programmaly checked for. Please include *exactly* what defines the avatar to be a 'child'. What are the 'physical' characteristics?

That's why we have a search feature dear. You don't have to trawl through thousands of posts.

I mean lordy, the following question has been deal with numerous times in the past 48 hours...

> "so why should SL remove it from here, when other places dont."

...but we've got to go over it all again because you're short on time? Well so are we.

I only seem to hear you mention one example, or a child avatar in a club with a prim penis. You mentioned (to paraphrase) 'hearing some stories' about questionable stuff.

There are far sicker things in this world than a child avatar with a prim penis.

The moon landing and LL? Apples and oranges. This is something we've gone through before, and without resorting to height restrictions, there is no way to prevent a person from making a "child like" avatar. Likewise, there is no legitimate reason to bar people from making such an avatar for themselves.

From: someone
No I would try to protect the baby by not allowing it in here.

So... your suggestion is that my 5-year-old (RP age) avatar, played by my decade-or-two over the main grid's allowed age, should be on the teen grid? That's how this reads.

From: someone
I wasnt a member in here in may so I am not familiar with what "went down" or what has changed since then.

A lot "went down." You may wish to peruse the SL blog, or May and June issues of The Metaverse Messenger (look for the kids' page), or well, take the word of one who was at ground zero: the policy as it stands is about as clear as it can get: child avatars are allowable in this world. It's the actions that they might take that can lead to possible violations of LL policy, and even real-world legal issues. Which, well, is a lot like anyone else in here, really.

From: someone
maybe its something they need to think about, personally I think SL should be adult verified before anyone is allowed to be a member in here, you know keep the kiddies out.

Such is in process, yes. Of course, this has nearly no bearing on child avatars. You'll likely find the teens and younger who've snuck onto the main grid are playing adult avatars, and might be in that club with you. Playing a child avatar would likely be kinda boring for them.

I was exploring one day, and happened across a "playground" with children, and some adults tending after the "children" there. There was roleplay going on, but not sexual. Some adults like to roleplay as children and have no interest in any type of sexual "ageplay". We chatted, and some of the "children" stayed in character, others didnt, so the roleplay was a bit loose. We talked a bit, and they were all quite nice, and we even talked about ageplay when it came up. They were quite adamant about not being into that, so, although it seems goofy to me, I saw no problems with that, and dont ever see it being banned.

Now this is Funny.

You notice how many stop by to DEFEND These Avitars?

Come on, SL may of put a stupid bann on them and we know it, BUT we also damn well know that SL HAS NOT TRIED TO ENFORCE IT.

Only way they TRIED to Enforce it is to make it where you can not do a damn search for them!
You know. OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND CRAP!

Oh and before you start on me! I tell you this right now, SL is a damn Liar if they say they are Enforcing the Bann on them!
Hell, a couple of weeks ago before they blocked the search for them, you could find them by doing Group Search's real easy.
That and a hell of a lot of them call themselves Esscourt service's.

Oh well. Before someone say's, oh you was looking! you must be a Perve!
At the time I was and I was not.
I was not looking for that crap cause I like it.
I was looking for that crap cause I needed to know how easy it was to come by them accidently or on purpose as I am NOT the only Person that use's this PC.
Also, when I play this game, I am NOT the only person that can and does see what is on the monitor.
So, I needed to know real fast after I TP'd into a place where Kiddie fucking was going on when I thought I was TP'in into a damn "Poker Palace" to play a damn game of Texas Hold'em.
I found out real fast after that happened where and what type of place's NOT to TP into or around to where I halfway felt safe to go where I need to go as I learn more of this game without having to subject myself or others to what can and does go on in this game.

Oh, Second Life >>> You know dang well know what I am talking about!

No matter tho.

In short, Kiddie Sex still happens in SL and anyone that say's it does not is a liar or just wants to sit back and do it themselve's.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thought about it, figured I explain a little more why I care about what can and can not be seen on this PC.
My PC and office stuff is run out of the Living Room pretty well next to the dang front door.
Why?
Hell, I have 5 kid's and married for 15yrs and oldest kid is just turning 13.
I have been online playing MMOG games and working off my PC for about 11yrs now.
So, putting the PC in the Living room near the front door so I could work or play just became habbit as I started it there so I could keep a eye on some kid's while I worked or played and also I knew if anyone came in or out of the house.
That and as long as you keep the Living room clean and block it off just right (LOL Nothing is child proof!) then it makes a hell of a huge play-pin for younger kids.

Anyway, I still not moved the PC yet, so most times everyone can see what I am doing on PC.
And before you say> what about the Adult stuff that goes on! I will tell you that crap is easier to avoid as they not try to hide it with False names or group names.

Oh SL> Unless they changed the name, try looking for a place that calls themselves >
Private Poker School
You might be suprised.

As for banning all short Toons?
Let's put it this way>
SL could do more to enforce this matter without banning them if they wanted to.

Prostitution is Legal in SL? But Poker Playing is not, now that is what I find funny as hell.

I have, in fact, seem first and second-hand reports of said ban being enforced, so *we* do know better.
