I like the sigs. Just as long as they arent obnoxiously sized.

I agree, people also put really useful info in their sigs like Jira's to vote for and such.
(I'm guilty: I also supported a shop for a bit because I felt they deserved it and tried to help a struggling music venue in my sig.)

I'm not a fan of the really oversized ones though.

This was the post that set me off. You can't have your hardcore humor all over this forum and attack the forum's helpfulness at the same time.

But even I was surprised by some of the responses to Conan's serious request for help.

Sigs have never bothered me. Even the really big ones. That's what the scroll wheel is for. :)

But I don't fault those who use their sig to advertise. As I just stated on another thread, it's within forum rules and it's one of the few ways people can get the word out, besides expensive classifieds.

This was the post that set me off. You can't have your hardcore humor and attack this forum's helpfulness at the same time.

I agree completely. I don't appreciate the humor, as I find it to be contemptuous of the people here, most of whom really are helpful and who happen to have businesses that they want to promote.

And I can't think of a bona fide question that doesn't get answered right away. If by "helpful" you mean agreeing with you on some controversial idea, then no, you shouldn't expect much "help" from anyone.

I don't like the big ones at all. They are far too distracting. Yours is just fine, Chip. They irritate me, but if I turn them off then I'll miss a lot of the funny ones so I just live with them for now and whine internally.

Yes, it sucks when we are not helped, or our queries are not taken seriously. So I guess we are in agreement again.

Since we are now in an era where we pretty much have to police ourselves on this forum, I'm trying to model my behavior after Ava, who goes out of her way to be helpful, even making housecalls for residents in need.

I'm sure I will laugh again someday when reading a post here.

/me waits for Trout to post something funny.

Yes, every time he types the word "Hitler", I have to keep from falling out of my chair.

I have not seen him limit his derailing comments to threads that "started out as absurd". Here is just one of many examples:

His sig was calling people's creations stupid. That's insulting.

Sorry, but I've just found the post you were referring to. If you look at it in the context of the thread above his, you see what Conan was doing.

Keyword abuse is exasperating. As mentioned above, I too refuse to go back to a place that falsely advertises. It seems like everyone adds "goth, sex, neko" to their keywords and while in some cases it is appropriate, most of the time it's so wrong. LOL

Word of mouth is really the best advertising and that takes time to develop. But certainly not impossible. Even on the forums, ask for people's favourite xyz type of item and everyone will chime in with their favourites.

In my defense, I offered the help first... which remains unappreciated... and then took the jab at his whine about how after 32 looks he hadn't gotten any help.

I just read through the thread. I will answer any serious question regardless of who asks. Hell, I've even answered some by a certain RP sim owner immediately after he and I have had bitter exchanges. On the other hand, while it's not my choice, I can't fault anyone for discounting a one time serious post by someone who continually is rude, disruptive and chooses to be an ass. What goes around comes around.

Nope. Once you're bitter and disillusioned, Ray, you can never go back.

Apparently it's a necessary but pointless excercise.

Relax a little Sally. Forum users are like family. Sometimes we love each other, sometimes we hate each other, either way it's all good. Questions get answered and life moves on.

LOL I was wondering when someone would catch that. It struck me as funny when I read about it being mistranslated before the Croat/UK soccer match.

This to one of the most - if not THE - most relaxed people on the forum? How odd.

Thanks Sal, I'm now relaxing:)
