Correct me though when I assume that at the creation of the accounts they were not orgionally called lifetime accounts. This was a name change along with a policy change that made them life time accounts. Also I agree that jufe cause it says lifetime does not mean permanent. LL I am sure has a clause in thier contracts that lets them get around that even if it were just like automotive dealers, etc. Also the (unconfirmed?) qoute of 12 sims does still make an intersting perspective of what would happen if these accounts did have to return thier land and then release it as first land all at once. Could be intersting to see the result since LL releases right now that much or less a month and we are still choking for first land according to many new premium account holders. Either way I do think removing the "lifetime land" is a bad idea if for nothing else then they are currently offered it by LL and did pay that huge fee. Let them keep it for as long as possible. LL WILL help with land maintence at times if it is obvious the prims should not be there, etc. Maybe make it a policy that if the person doens't come online after X months then LL will return all prims not set to the land owners name and turn on autoreturn to the conservative LL time they use on thier own land. This could even be used for ALL LAND!

Joy, I have to wonder why you are so bothered about someone else's land that isn't getting the use or "market circulation" that you feel it needs. If the view isn't a problem, then there's no need for you to worry about it

well lifetime accounts are "granted" land til SL die or LL decide to change it, they trusted LL when nobody knew if SL would even last a year so i can understand LL give them some special treatment in the memory of...
I would be more interested that a basic account that do not log for 2 months get purged of the database, assets included. Now they do not hold land but they sure clutter the database.

See I hate any idea of a forced purge cause I have seen people disappear for months and then suddenly reappear. Maybe if they have not been a paid customer (payment info used) and not logged in for a year clear out their inventories? This way the account is still there and waiting but the details that would clutter up the servers are gone. Course all this would be done after a few reminder emails from LL to login for at least (x minutes) to make sure they are reported as being active and not have thier things deleted or call support.

Fully Terraformable land is enchanting. It's beautiful. It is what all SL land should be, IMHO. I know it caused probs for some in the past. I know it can be abused, but still, I think it's the most wonderful land in SL and the idea that ANY of this scarce resourse is being wasted, is just a shame.

This thread on the whole seems to really only point to one problem only: The lack of profit opportunity for the OP with regard to the land owned by the lifer. As Strife points out, the effect on the overall market is negligable. How nice it would be for "realtors" if this non-existent "problem" were "fixed", and the land went back into circulation.
