I got serious hate mail, about my software thats free to download for everyone

That is truly sad. Hate mail and threats to a guy that's provided a free tool and free quality work? I just can't understand why someone would think it's okay to do that.

wtf

Sad, triste, really a sad question

First at all, sorry for my bad english. I used the fantastic Cel Edman¡¡s tool, and others fantastics plugins like the SculptGenMax, of Shack Dougall, and wih a deep feeling of appreciation to all the designers who generously provide us with the tools to help us develop our creativity.

I do not charge for my SL's creationes, only recover costs for upload textures and accept what I do because I enjoy seeing how other more creative, change and improve my works well and learn from them.

Without the generous tools from Cel, Shack, tutorials from Vlad and a lot more of people than give us their talent, all of us lost. SL lost beauty, creativity, and only criminals (for me that is the adjetive), win.

Even though I don't really use Sculpty Paint to make stuff, I most certaintly appreciate Cel's efforts. I even threw some pocket change his way a few times just for being a cool guy.

What I'm really having hard time comprehending is why anybody would send hate mail. I don't get it. Is it like an elitist thing where the lowly peons shouldn't be allowed to make scuplties with ease? Again, I don't get it.

I hope this whole permission thing eventually gets solved. I doubt it will happen any time soon, but cheers anyways.

Good luck with future endevors, Mr. Cel.

Jet lag and lack of broadband is making me a bit crazy but....
It would be fabulous if when someone created an item it could be scripted to make the avatar of the person who fiddles with them grow a really huge arse and for it never ever to be changed back. Like Pinocchio's nose sort of.
I was thinking of a behemoth size like the Kenny Everett impersonation of Rod Stewarts arse.

For those non brits who dont have a clue what I mean...

It need to be watched right to the end for the full impact.

I think it would be best if I tried to sleep now.

Well was pretty crazy, mad and sad about the whole thing, hope I can leave all this crap behind me, and focus on the positive and general good people next.

Anyway put it back online, added latest version #092 tonight, and a new texture generator experiment I just started to work on.

Its come to my attention that a decent programmer has chosen to close up shop.
Cel Edman, creator of SculptyPaint.

I did since december 2007.
I focus more on scripting and less on moddelling.
as long as its opengl its open. cry more please.

Cel,

Thanks for bringing Sculpty Paint back ... you are an awesome person to share your program with all of us ... I know I appreciate it - I only play with sculpties - and have used your program to create a few things that I could easily create without doing it on the expensive programs ... I'm not a serious sculpter ...

I'm really glad you're not letting the "crap" keep you from moving forward.

Thanks!! and ... mmmm ... there is an update group? =)

Not Quite What Happened

Mental Mentors regularly distributes freebie items that members have found. Of course I can't absolutely guarantee that no member of MM would have wilfully distributed the textures, but most likely, somebody has mistaken it for a freebie once the license terms were removed by someone else.

I know that there are also some groups who deliberately give away the contents of BIABs just to prevent anyone making profit from the BIAB, by making that content obviously free. I agree that's controversial though.

The Mental Mentor- co owner of the group in his "apology" stated:
"AS far as I am concerned, I have done nothing wrong, full perms means just that, a notecard doesnt mean jack, it is simply the creators wishes, he elects to sell full perm things. anyway."

He admits to buying it- and by his actions admits too removing the notecard
