Hi Arahan, while I can certainly understand your attitude regarding the closing of the sim I have to admit that your original post and the question to the Lindens you placed elsewhere seems to give the events a certain slant.

The casual reader could get the impression, that you think the sim was closed and the group banned because of their works of "art" on this sim. And that was definitely not the case as many others have pointed out in this thread. ;)

I took some time to browse through your slideshow, btw. It made me think real hard about the term "art" again, a term for which everyone probably has his or her own interpretation. So, when the creators of these artworks think it is "art" - questioned by some here - I guess it can be called "art".

On the other hand, I am not sure if being provocative and attacking "common good taste" in a creation alone is enough to label that creation as art. Through the thousands of years of human art history there always was is a certain school of "angry young man" artistes (interesting enough, there were rarely women in that school of thought), who thought just that. So maybe the idea, while I don't agree with it, has some merit.

Additionally my 6 year old son certainly thinks pictures of genitalia, violence, shit and blood are provocative - and inherently funny. And I certainly won't deny him artistic potential. I just hope this potential will develop a little over time ... :)

The sim being taken and the group being banned had nothing to do with the grid attacks. The person who did the attacks wasn't in Voter 5 and has admitted in no uncertain terms that Voter 5 had nothing to do with it. So don't lump them in the category as the gridhacker, it's phenominally unfair.

This thread has outlived it's usefulness (was it ever?) and would be best suited for a third party forum.

*locks thread*

I too was spammed multiple times by the altered 'King of the Hill' texture last week, it was quite annoying as I was trying to build at the time, I switched myself to busy mode in the end but by that time I had received about 20. I wasn't offended by it, I just thought it was a bit crap and not that funny. I have no idea where it came from, although it did say the creator was Prokofy Neva...

*Rolls eyes*. Nice try at trying to discredit me by knowingly signing on to a planned, malicious smear attempt -- except it was a flop, and here, the v-5 finally overplayed their hand. Because the Lindens were able to readily determine that it was not me who made or distributed this texture. And making and distributing a texture in such a way as to fake the author's and sender's name is a serious crime of hacking/exploiting in SL, and that explains, among other reasons, why your little pals are now expelled.

I'm trying to understand why you are carrying water for these goons; if it were just love of wierd and goofy and gross shock-art, that might be one thing. But I now see it's part of a wilful misrepresentation of their activities in SL.

Now that you know what it's like to get an annoying, ugly, porn texture, perhaps you can understand what everyone else is talking about now when they find it to be "not art". Curious, that -- you didn't find King of the Hill to be "art" -- even though it was "art" when v-5 used it on the giant prim over your beloved Satyr, and "art" used in the invasion of New Citizens Inc. when their emblem was hijacked and changed -- a clear M.O.

Prokofy Neva: don't harass someone in SL because you disagree with their opinion in the Forums.

I have to chuckle at this tendentious rendering as well -- I'm not the one harassing anybody.

Last night, two fresh alts from v-5 brought 3 ugly grief statues to my property. One was a griefing effigy of me made from my RL pictures -- can you understand how unsettling and creepy that is to see in SL? That's disclosure, and no one should have to suffer that in SL, it's wrong.

The other statues were of a furry clutching a long knife and holding up a chopped-off bloddy head of another furry.

So, no, when "art" comes to you like that, it's not "art". It's griefing.

We never did hear even an art-world-style exegisis of why mutilated furry corpses and such were art in the first place, anyway.
