A poll on how many own a home in the game

With the game being "mature" in general nature, one would assume that people need a special place to spend quality time together. Sooo, do people own a home?

None of the above. I share a decent size chunk of land with my small group (mostly, me, my husband and my alt) and I have a large store on it. I've built dozens of houses, but mostly just so I could play around with building/texturing/decorating, and then after a couple weeks, I tear them down again, until another idea pops into my head. I never actually use the houses for anything.

Not everyone in SL is into playing house with a virtual partner. Some actually just build houses for the sake of building them, or having their own place without it having anything to do with the 'mature' nature of SL.

I'm sure some people own multiple properties as well. Why own so many? I'm curious about that too.

That's very true, i didn't think of it that way since building is kind of beyond my abilities right now. I just looked at the homes and see so many empty, both commercial and no-comercial that it makes me wonder why people create such large houses and then leave them vacant.

I feel in love in a small Island in Dreamland / Victoria an early day in my SL life.. 4000 something are the size... bought a hose and started to put things in and on...and still does.. the Prim limit are sometimes used to the limit and as now not...


Before that i was a bag lady sleeping in the woods.. or at friends sofas.. to have an own land and a house makes me feel ok.. probably to stuck to RL and all you must have that and that))

My options were not listed, so I'll give my answer here.

I own a small cottage in Taber that is 400sqm. It is not "first land" but it is a small plot. Plenty for my little cottage that fits in with the village theme of Taber. I will also soon be renting land in Neualtenburg where I want to set up another cottage type home. I'm hoping for it to be roughly 1000sqm give or take a few. Similar type theme with a different style setting and slightly larger home.

Aside from that I own my shop and it has 1584sqm of land dedicated to it (though not all in one chunk). I hope to buy more land in that sim over time, but that would all be dedicated to my shop and gallery.

I kinda like having my "living" area seperate from my business area.

You also missed rental land off of the poll where, of course, people have homes.

I have a house, but it has nothing to do with being naughty. The most x-rated thing I do there is change clothes.

I didn't quite say naughty, but more rather spend quality time together which includes socializing as mature individuals having a private discussion. Similar to when two people getting together to chat about personal issues, like having your best friend come over and just talk; when i said mature, i basically left it open for all interpretations of that word.

And i do agree with you that i dont like changing clothes out in the open which has me thinking i need a personal space which is why i am so interested in owning a small home now.

Sorry, i wasn't sure if people rented or not; when it was sort of also a question of owning the property (land) as well. However, i would consider renting a property if i know there are some safeguards to prevent my things from being moved as well as depending on cost of rental, etc.

i own a huge spread called the commune, it includes parts of aqua, blue and grey. it's almost 40,000 square meters. me and randy and a few friends live there, we put houses up and change them occasionally. i love the serenity there. i love the commune, lake charlotte, the commune gardens.......it's nice.

i own a sim, but i have no house.

i have a workshop, event area, a few stores, and random builds, but no house.

Big plot no house.. I used to have a palace in Taber, but I guess your interests can shift over time.. I found myself staying there less and less, and spending more and more time with things that don't really need a house.

So I now spend a good 80% of my time on a 40 x 40 workspace cluttered with half finished junk.

Not eveyones idea of homey, but I rather like it

You missed the option where you don't own a home, but own land for another reason.

I don't have a home. Right now I have a peice of land where my home should be, but there is nothing there yet.

Right now my Home location is set to the museum.

I own over 8000m in 3 different locations. All 3 places have dwellings, if you count a tent as a dwelling.

I've had a couple different structures on my piece of Mowry, which has grown over time. I've pretty well got everything South of the road, with the boundary with Broadmoor now dominated by a ~50m tall cube housing a mall, club, or some combination of the two. Actually makes for quite an isolated space for me to putter around with things...

Recently finished construction of a structure that will be a home and/or office in one section, near the waterfall. And discovering that I really, really need to start collecting decent textures.

Two lands, one resortish, fun and busy; the other peaceful.

I have a house that goes with me whenever I move plots. It's a nice place to meet friends, change clothes, unpack that strange freebie that might be embarrassing, park myself while reading the forum, and have fun seeing who visited so I can get new profile picks to follow up

Apart from that I have plots where I build for fun and to provide useful places like shops and teaching areas. I also spend time in rented plots in themed sims for the pleasure of being there, meeting different people and of course building.

None of the above... I own 4 Islands and dont own a home... I have never had a home..
