From: blaze Spinnaker I'd appreciate if people simply let this thread just die.
I made the rather odd (for me) assumption that this community is comprised of mature individuals or at the very least, the immature ones wouldn't be able to grief in the manner that they have.
Obviously, I was dead wrong and I certainly am not going to make that mistake again anytime soon.
Time will tell that either this gruesome sort of behaviour has to go, LL opens its doors to children who will enjoy this sort of thing, or SL will simply plateau rather soon.
But for now, let the children have their fun, cause it ain't gonna last. If you want mature answers stop asking repetitve or lame ass questions.

There are actually some of us who would like to discuss these issues, but it's clear it's not going to be allowed.
Are there really more government posts than "Count Yer Numbers" posts, and are the former really more banal than the latter?
No; it isn't that the topic is uninteresting to people, it's that it's threatening. Most people seem to think that the Lindens have no clear vision for where SL is going and that they can be swayed by a single loud voice in the forums. I don't see how anyone who has been paying attention can come to either conclusion.
And the issue has not been discussed to death, at least not beyond the "OMG WTF" level. It's hardly been skimmed.
The consequence will be that when player government is finally instituted, it will happen without there having been much (substantive) debate.
Fine. I've got RL things to do. See y'all around.

But for now, let the children have their fun, cause it ain't gonna last. You know I find that hypocritical. You're allowed to post repetitive statements, asking the same thing over and over, and quite frankly, it *IS* getting QUITE old. While renaming the question in a different fashion may seem like a different topic, it boils down to the same thing. You have your 'government' on your own little peice of land, keep it that way and you won't have an issue.

Fine. I've got RL things to do. See y'all around. Someone's still pissed off. There are group forums dedicated to just these types of discussions. This is why some of us feel that this idea is trying to be foisted upon us, because some folks are not content to discuss it amongst themselves in a place where like minded individuals can gather to discuss the merits of it. Does General Motors need its customers to start designing next year's line of cars? Is that to say they don't want customer feedback? No. But it's clear in this cae that the majority does not want a centralized SL government. Now SL has a decision to make and no amount of hyperbole about said subject is going to make a difference. It's like asking mom and dad for the car keys 1000 times, and they're simply not ready to answer yet. Maybe if the question was something like: how will SL gov't. affect land prices, or something to that effect, the response probably wouldn't have been as such, but will gov't affect what happens in private between 2 consenting adults? I think the answer is pretty clear, if he is referring to LL as the gov't. because we can right now, without any sanctions. So where is the notion coming from? Is this a thought that perhaps a centralized, player run gov't. will be like the Gestapo? Blaze has stated before that he doesn't think that a centralized player gov't. will work so whats up with this question? See where I am going with this? We've gone from a player run dispute resolution system to nearly hysterical ponderances. Yes, it has been discussed to death, for months now, since shortly after Ulrika came on board. I have never seen a more divisive, tired issue on these boards in a year and a half. I will agree with one thing though - it's threatening. It's threatening when the minority of players think they know what's good for the majority.
